Don't worry CC Bowles will correct these mistakes in the year 2052. Rodgers is reviewing the tape from 2014 right now. Macc will get around to addressing the offensive line in 3 years. He took a break from drafting defense this year and will be right back to drafting back to back safeties and DL next year. Hope Darnold will last that long.
Can we agree that there are penalties on every play....the points which ones are called and which ones aren't and why?
As soon as you go there a few guys here will blame everything on the refs and insist they do it at the direction of the league office. That is the lamest of the lame excuses that will show up every game from here until the end of time, win or lose. They'll also then tell us how the Giants, or New England or the Cowboys or whoever get away with everything - again at the direction of the league office. Gimme a break!
Well this has been my talking point for months..Bowles is pathetic LMAO at all the Bowles homers who have left town with the Geno fan club Lets fast forward a few months when we have 6 losses and 1 win...and Toilet is canned but Mac spared The REAL problem will be FINDING A GOOD replacement at HC etc Starting with Bellichek right up to Dan Quinn saying "no thank you" NOBODY GOOD wants to work for the Johnsons I am praying for a solution..cant wait another 50 years
Guys guys, you’re not allowed to speak poorly of the coach unless you have specific replacements in mind. Or so I’m told.
012 I don't think its that no one wants to work for the Johnson its that the Johnson are CLUELESS and can't find the right person for the job even when the ask supposed knowledgeable experts for help them find someone. IF you pay them they will come but who on earth is going to help the Johnson find their next Coach or GM ?
Well, they used an outside firm to help them land Idzic. That went well. Then the NFL intervened to ‘help’ them land Bowles. Two for two. Todd Bowles is like a flat tire with a whole bunch of patches. Whether you know which brand you’ll go with or not, it still needs to be replaced.
You've gotten all the negatives by now, but there were some plusses: 1) Darnold continued to impress. He took team to score on first drive of the game. Later made a great pass to Pryor cutting over the middle for a TD pass. 2) The defense has still not given up an offensive TD. 3) Teddy continued to impress as well. He didn't get to play as much but many of his passes were beautifully thrown and on the money. Along with Darnold, haven't seen such good passing in a Jets uniform since Vinny.
So do "penalty push ups" actually work? It doesn't seem so. I question whether punishing everyone for the mistakes of one or two people will work. I suppose the desired outcome of this approach is to get everyone else to get on the guilty ones and "peer pressure" will solve the problem, but what it usually does is simply cause disharmony and resentment, two things that work against team unity. And it's cop out by the coaching staff - they should be identifying the actual offenders and dealing with them specifically, not meting out mass punishment. Bowles has used this tactic since last season and what's the result? Judging from last night, it clearly isn't working. This is one of the persistent problems I have with Bowles. He just doesn't seem to learn from his own mistakes.
It works for the military. It doesn't work with youth sports, builds anxiety in kids and can lead to more mistakes but it does form a team bond in adults.
I think the military is an exception due to how guys live together 24/7. Also the stakes are higher - people die vs. losing a game. I still think the best "hammer" a coach has is playing time. You make a mistake, you sit,,,a play or two; a series; a quarter; a half; a game; a couple of games; you get cut. When players see that their playing time is affected, they'll take notice. Bowles rarely, if ever, uses playing time as a tool, at least from what I've seen.
There is a very simple solution to this,,,,first off the wrong guys are being punished for mistakes,,Have Bowels and Casey,, and all the other coaches run sprints , suicides and doing pushups and this will all be corrected faster than you can say " 13 penalties "
I get the consequences of war however, it is very effective even in peace time when there is no threat of death in basic training. Having gone through it, it think the misery more exactly going through it together, builds a bond. Members of a basic training company are separated at graduation going to different duty stations yet most form life long friendships. Unfortunately the Penalties are coming from our starters and the depth is poor at best. Bowles is coaching for his job so sitting players for a penalty is not an option and he has no say over the roster so he can not cut anyone.
The Giants were without their best WR and their starting RB and still bitch slapped the Jets like the ugly red-headed step child. Eli looked pretty good imho. The Giants season will be defined by how well or poorly Eli plays. Webb has shown me nothing to suggest he was worth passing on Darnold or whichever QB they liked best and taking Barkely at #2. They will regret not taking a 1st round QB in this past draft.
