Has the coaching staff ever even considered having Ben Graham do kickoffs?

    Yes, it's been discussed.

No he can't do it because the idea of kicking from the ground is alien to Aussie Rules Footy

I do remember seeing some team-notes saying that Graham had been practicing kickoffs. I'll try to dig the link up.

Tell you what... I'd love to see Graham do some kickoffs. He's got a whole lot more ass behind the ball than Nugent does and if you're facing a dangerous returner, why not have him kick it into oblivion at the other end?

I would still like to see him run on a fourth and one, when he lined up behind center he caused the other team to take a TO

also something that many will overlook is the fact that if it ever comes down to the returner and Graham he is from Australia- he will not be afraid to tackle him and he will tackle him hard.

Benny was a pretty tough tackler from what i saw of him... I'm not a Geelong fan you should ask some of the other aussies.

I don't see why Ben couldn't learn this skill, it's not rocket science.

We are hanging out for him to lay a tackle but I fear that the old fella may be a bit slow.

Mangini is a guy who seems to always "Think outside the box". He's just wired that way..Why would'nt he try Ben..the ball expodes off of his foot.maybe its a work in progress.

And Mangini likes the onside kicks. Thats probably more then enough reason right there.

Simple remedy? Getting a keeping a first half lead. Maybe we'll see Graham doing kickoffs next year.

I've never kicked off a football before but I would imagine that it is pretty hard to kick one deep into the endzone. Although it looks pretty easy it might be hard to learn the proper technique to get that kind of distance.

That said, if he can do kickoffs and is fairly good at it I can't see a reason to stop him from doing it

Yeah but he also had 2 kicks that were short of the 8 yard line. The kick that he made from 50-something yards had a little help from the wind. He just doesn't have a strong leg. I.E. not kicking a 50 yarder to cut the Bear lead to 7 in the fourth. Instead looking to go for it before the false start penalty.
