It's a shame these guys aren't in the rock and roll hall of fame already. I mean shitty Frank Zappa and rap groups are in but not Jethro Tull? The fuck?
Whenever I would see that guy's threads/posts I never thought of the group. I always thought of Jethro from 'The Beverly Hills Hillbillies'. It's definitely a schtick, but I probably get more kicks out of it than I should. I guess it's because people get so predictably annoyed, which amuses me more than the stuff that he says, haha. I wouldn't doubt it if he's a Cheats or a Bills fan, but yeah, he's definitely trolling on purpose.
My best friend did a summer job at Billboard back in 2001 or so.Ian Anderson was his boss..was supposively a big Jets fan too.Never wanted to talk about his music..than again my friend had no interest in that as more of a punk/hardcore/metal fan. Only as I began the inaudible first verse of Thick as a Brick on acoustic guitar, did I realise with resigned horror that the liquid I assumed to be beer, was not, in fact, beer at all. It was urine. The unmistakable pong wafting from my then-ample head of damp hair and freshly laundered stage-clothing would remain for the duration of the show. An unholy baptism from above. I could have picked the gig at Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 1971, when riots and police tear gas threatened to stop the show. Or being hit hard in the larynx by a baseball at Philadelphia Spectrum arena. Or anointment by the freshly plucked but seriously used tampon hurled with uncanny accuracy at another enormodome. Or the 10in steel spike impaled in the stage next to me at soundcheck when "fans" climbed into a roof gantry over the stage at soundcheck. Or the live rounds of automatic pistol ammunition thrown on to the stage during a show. But no – the bucket of piss, delivered with loving precision, wins out every time. You have to laugh. And count the money.

Clutterbuck? That's brilliant. Btw at least you didn't confuse him with Andrew Johnson...to my mind the worst president ever. After four years of civil war, he thought the Black Codes were fine. Unbelievable. The Black Codes?? Seriously?? And the most famous picture of him makes it look like the photographer has farted and the smell has just reached him.
Make a case for Tull all you want but there's no way you can do it on the back of Zappa. You'd be better off citing why Tull belongs in.
Tull belongs. Zappa was a musical savant and deserved it on his own merit. Incredible guitarist, brilliant composer, masterful lyricist. No two musical tastes are alike. I dig them both.
