So unnecessary that potato commentary. For the rest of the posters and lurkers (I lurk 80% of the time) this forum is not about that kind of talk nor does this represent us.
I'm not defending MaineJet in any way, shape or form, but I've always heard the term "yard ape" used synonymously with "crumb snatchers" and "rug rats," i.e., small children. It is pretty clear that he is using the term in a racist fashion, however.
TOP DEFINITION Yard ape term "yard ape" refers to a black person. It's derivation is from the lawn ornaments of black coachmen holding lanterns, or black children fishing, or many of the other lawn ornaments of that type. It has devolved into a pejorative term for blacks.
My fellow TGG posters. It's time to move on from the past, forget the disappointment that was Hack, and what turned out to be a wasted second round pick. People make mistakes as they grow into their positions, be it the GM, the HC or any player. God knows all of us as fans have made plenty of mistakes in our draft selections as well. That is not an excuse to belittle nor disrespect others with mean spirited, hateful and meaningless insults. What is encouraging is that we have a future in front of us, a lot to look forward to, a great group of members and a damned good forum that allows us the opportunity to share our views with respect in a healthy and classy way. Thanks to the moderators for keeping such high standards. And now, it's time for a new beginning, enter Sam and Teddy, we wish you the best. The past is history not worth repeating any more.
I don’t know if he was using it in a racist fashion at all because he was talking about Mike M, which would not really make sense. Guess we’ll never get to hear him tell his side of the story though. Still odd thing to say no matter what the context....
There are times when this place borders on the surreal, which I think makes it a true reflection of Jets’ fandom.
We're more like the "show us your breasts" kind of fans rather than racist. https://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/20/sports/football/20fans.html
