Stewart and Hansen might want to step up their game The New York Jets have signed former BYU wide receiver Jonah Trinnaman. Trinnaman is a 5’ 11”, 190 pound wide receiver. He originally starred at football powerhouse Snow College before transferring to BYU for his junior and senior campaigns. At BYU Trinnaman failed to get much traction, finishing his career with a total of 52 receptions for 626 yards and one touchdown over two seasons. Trinnaman was fourth in receiving yards for BYU each of his two years there. That kind of football resume might have you wondering why Trinnaman managed to get himself an NFL contract. Good question. The answer seems to be his Pro Day numbers. If football was a contest based on Pro Day results Trinnaman would already be in the Hall of Fame. At his Pro Day Jonah Trinnaman posted a 4.30 40 yard dash and a 40.5” vertical. Both numbers would have led all receivers at the 2018 NFL Combine, had Trinnaman been invited and posted his numbers there. Those are eye-popping performances, but they pale in comparison to Trinnaman’s broad jump. Jonah Trinnaman posted a 12 foot broad jump. That performance not only would have been the best broad jump at the 2018 NFL Combine by a whopping 8 inches, it is just 4 inches shy of the world record for the standing broad jump. The term “athletic freak” is tossed around a lot in describing NFL prospects, but Trinnaman actually earns the designation. Now if only he was a bit better at the whole football thing. With 90 man rosters this time of year Trinnaman is the kind of freakish athlete worth bringing in for a closer look. He was originally signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an UDFA immediately following the 2018 NFL draft, but he was recently cut following the Cardinals’ rookie minicamp. The Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets then brought Trinnaman in for tryouts. The Packers were rumored to be interested in trying Trinnaman at cornerback. Yesterday the Jets signed him.
That makes what...16 Wr's in camp now? I know we're short handed in that regard but having that many Wr's is.... different? unique? strange? desperate?
I’d say this signing has close to no effect on Hansen or Stewart. Camp body, maybe practice squad. Also reports from yesterday were that Hansen looked good.
I can't wait to see him broad jump (standing broad jump). Maybe he can return kicks by receiving the ball, and jumping 12 ft forward. It'd be an improvement.
Seriously though, with his speed and athleticism he could potentially be a good special teams player, and I'm sure that's what they're thinking too
Enunwa Anderson Kearse Pryor Hansen TBD Maybe a 2nd TBD There's your 2018 NYJets WR room. May the best of the 15 WR's in camp not named those 5 claim that job.
Hey, why not? At least Mac has been aggressive mining for jewels. As mentioned above, he's got practice squad written all over him. Does anyone know if he returned kicks at Snowball College?

I think he makes 13. We we're all the way down to 12 before his signing to go along with our 12 CBs and 16 LBs.
