We can be total idiots and make believe that we need links to mo k drafts or rankings that have Allen 3rd and Mayfield 4th as if it's new and earth shattering news to all. Or we can be big boys and say what we all know, that this is what has been written by most the last 2 years. That you don't like it and can't accept it is up to you. I'm not wasting my time, we all know it's what's been written. As I said, right or wrong.

Thats the problem with you Mayfield fanboys, you're like the fans who cried for Tebow, it's more than football to you. I don't care all that much of it comes to Allen or Mayfield, whichever one they pick works for me, each have issues and strong points. I can't swear to which will workout and who will be a bust. If either. But the fanboys keep screaming as if they actually know who will be Brees and who will be Cutler. Guaranteed. Scarier yet is most Mayfield fanboys would actually take him over Rosen, proving that they are clueless.

So you think you're on to something that 3 or so "experts" got a couple of QB prospects wrong? Really? In a process where GMS mostly get it wrong. It's a crapshoot, we know. Few com into the NFL ready and none come in not needing to grow their games further. Some do, most don't. Wow, we're on to something. And if they got Hack wrong, after his rookie season, as a 18 year old, how can they ever be trusted again.

Unless they like the same guy you like. Lol

  3. It’s made this process insufferable. Folks are reading a few articles, watching a game or 2 & looking to be blown away by the production they see rather than understanding the whole picture. It’s nothing more than a fan evaluation.”What have you done for me lately” brought to a process it has no business being apart of. The folks on here who evaluate talent every single season & understand the whole picture all are seeing things the same way.Thats no coincidence.

Its those mainstream fans throwing out their opinion who lack a wide lense to the entire evaluation process that are creating these consensus of “Baker at all costs”& “Allen is death”.The rationale being provided is extremely short sighted

It only makes perfect sense that the instant gratification crowd buy into Mayfield bc he’s hitting a ton of passes, getting all sorts of face time & playing for a top 5 program.Likewise they shy away from Allen bc Wyoming games aren’t very exciting, the offense he ran was largely overmatched & although he was successful he didn’t have gawdy stats or play for a top 5 winning program.

The very second one starts peeling back the layers as to why everything isn’t what it appears within a projection to the next level folks tap out. They either aren’t interested in hearing the truth or are simply too stubborn to see past stats or first impressions.

I like Mayfield & will accept him as a Jet.But I haven’t heard a single legit argument that puts to rest ANY of the red flags pertaining to his transition to the next level..just blind faith& more stats. By the same token I haven’t heard a single counter to the multitude of reasons given why Allen’s college production was below expectations or why what he accomplished in college was the farthest thing from failure. Their clearly is an unreasonable bias & perhaps an agenda. It goes back to folks not wanting to peel back layers & some warped “what have you done for me lately” M.O.

On the one hand I’m eating the excitement up.On the other it’s frustrating to see such flawed bias & a warped outlook seemingly absorb a large population of the fan base. Are guys really gonna boo Josh Allen if he’s the pick?Any pick that isn’t Baker mayfield for that matter??

I now remember why I stopped paying you any attention.

    1. Mock drafts do not equal rankings. Mock drafts take into account which teams are looking for what. I guess Chubb is being ranked the second best player in the draft by the people that think the Giants might go after him? Allen is going 1 in some drafts, and that’s because the Browns have a stopgap in place with the 4th pick in hand. That certainly isn’t an implication that Allen is the best QB in the draft by the people having him going first overall. Big boys are aware of this.

    2. I want Rosen over Mayfield. I want Mayfield over Allen. Your definition of “fanboy” needs an Allen-esque overhaul.

    3. I couldn’t stand Tim Tebow. And it’s literslly only about football to me. Your accuracy is teetering on Josh Allen.

    4. See point 2. You’ve now gone past Allen into Hackenberg territory of missing the mark.

Only a little over 2 weeks until all this discussion is over and the Jets have a potential future Franchise QB on their roster! Exciting stuff.

    Sam Darnold
    Josh Rosen
    Josh Allen
    Baker Mayfield

One will be a Jet for the next 5 years at least, hopefully much more. Hats off to Mac for moving up to #3 to secure this!

1.You just can't stop. Mock drafts aren't rankings. Ok, Allen has been 3rd on most mocks and most ranking lists. Better?

    2. I didn't call you a fanboy, you just did. I said the problem with fansboys, most here fit that mold true. They know, you know, who they are.

    3. You need help deciphering what's writen. Only a fool would think I was comparing Tebow to Mayfield. I'm comparing how some who want Mayfield do so because they like the guy more than the football player. In fact they imaging some of the things they write about the guy. Tebow like. You don't get that, you need help.

    4. These stupid references tell me you ARE a fanboy. Twice you've now said I'm in Allen territory. As if that's an insult. You need to grow up, being a dick doesn't make you right. If a difference of opinion gets your panties twisted you should take some time off and reflect on things. It's not that big of a deal

This is just deflection after deflection. You must think I’m an idiot if you’re gonna sit here and tell me you weren’t implying I was a Mayfield fanboy. Nevermind, not worth it.

Feel free to point out the flaws in my logic. Deriding the posters rather than the opinion is a typical political maneuver when you aren't winning an argument. Discredit the opinion giver, discredit the opinion itself. Time tested and true.

And for the record, I'll root for everyone including Josh Allen. He's a first round talent in my eyes. He's also not one of the three best options in my eyes, which is all the Jets need to worry about being they are literally at pick 3.

"Blind faith and more stats". I've been dropping evidence to support every single position I take and it always amounts to something that isn't relevant. Irrelevant statistics. Irrelevant film. Irrelevant analyst opinions. Irrelevant clips showcasing what he can do. Everything is irrelevant when it comes to this player. Let's face it, he's a short, spread QB and nothing else matters, right? And yet you claim this group is biased...

#3 specifically, is why I think Rosen is the best candidate, he will call out the coaching staff before they really screw up his development. I think once Rosen is in the league, he will have his own plan for development. He's a master of his craft. In due time, Rosen can be the QB that calls the plays, does the audibles. In time, he will be the system himself and everything will run through him. This is the type of QB I wanted the Jets to have my entire fandom ship. We missed on Carr, who I felt was very similar. So when it comes to QBs, I am very picky.

Now, that's not to say you cannot develop an offense around Baker. You absolutely can. Bates runs the west coast offense and incorporates a lot of throws on the run, bootlegs, etc. So you can see there is some sort of match there. Mayfield fits the bill in terms of that. Mayfield no doubt does have a versatile skill-set, I don't think he does anything BAD per say, but I don't think he does anything great, outside of being motivated to play. Now, Jackson I think in due time will really fix his lower body mechanics and that will really open things up. Lamar is good and patient in the pocket, but his lower base causes his throws on the outside to sail. Its very inconsistent. To me, I've compared these 2 specifically a lot and I always came away more impressed with Lamar. Both Lamar and Mayfield improved leaps and bounds from the year before. Both weren't first rounders last year, but they are now. Mayfield no doubt is more polished right now and that could sway the decision for the coaches and the front office.

Personality wise Adams and Mayfield are very similar. I really liked Adams because of his expertise in the film room and on the field. He would call out the opponents formations and line everyone up in the secondary. I didn't necessarily sign up for 'Twitter Handle Jamal Adams' and I really hope he brings his A game next season, he needs to get much better in coverage. I am never the one to say shut up and dribble, but I really want to see Adams take that next step next year. I do agree, they are cut from the same cloth. Heck, they even follow each other on social media accounts.

Todd Bowles, now in order for you to start on a Todd Bowles team, you have to show the ability to do the basics, you have to earn his trust on the field. Its more then just personality here, I think Bowles sees right through that stuff, but he will give you a shot! Baker must continue to be disciplined, Bowles will do that. I don't have a problem with how Bowles deals with his QBs. Though I am highly intrigued by a Bowles-Rosen type of partnership. Bowles needs to gain trust in his QB and for someone as intellectually smart as Rosen, its a perfect fit as well. Bowles is in the offense meetings. Those 2 would bounce a lot of ideas off each other. I am glad Rex Ryan isn't coaching this team with a Baker Mayfield or a Josh Rosen. Rex would allow him to do whatever he wanted.

In terms of arm strength, they all have decent arm strength. None of them are as crappy as Ryan Fitzpatrick, but I've seen Lamar make throws in between multiple defenders with barely any room. Hes a special guy that will make aggressive throws at any point in the game. I need to see more of that from Mayfield at the next level. You cannot scheme everyone open all of the time. Like the throw we were talking about in the posted video, I need more of that on a weekly basis.

Baker has some pretty good weapons right now in the TE (forgot his name, but really his game, reminds me of Jason Witten) as well as a top 5 offensive lineman in Orlando Brown. I think he's had the best supporting cast by far out of any of the QBs coming in. I give credit where credit is due to an extent, but I put a lot of stock on QBs that make plays with subpar weapons. So it is really the system? Or is it the QB? Is it a 50 50 split? A lot of the throws are screens and quick passes. That's why when I go back to that Georgia game, I saw a completely different offense in the 2nd half. It was far too conservative.

If we talk just this year ... Georgia was a top 6 defense this year, Ohio State was ranked at 9, Washington State surpringingly at 16 and Washington at 8. TCU had a down year this year. So a little bit of a mixed bag. I would say Rosen played harder defenses on a weekly basis, the Big 12 isn't great at all when it comes to defenses.

Finally the footwork; I need a QB that can take snaps and read defenses under center. If a QB cannot do this, it restricts the offense. Timing plays a big role in these plays at the next level. You cant make throws on the outside all of the time. Basics are still required, not sure if this is something he can pick up on right away, but you will need to scheme Mayfield up earlier in his career to off-set that. RPOs in the shotgun and the pistol will help.

Mayfield on the Saints, he would kill it ... I just don't know if the same would be applied for the Jets. If you got a legitimate plan, it could work out. I def enjoy these discussions, but man I cannot wait until its over and we have a QB. We will all be on the same boat then.

BTW I wanted to quote your whole post, but character limit

  10. Did I mention you by name? Have I insulted you at any point during this discussion? If anything I’ve taken your Bates “scheme fit” notion under consideration. I don’t think I’m being bias at all but all you seem to ever do is badger your mayfield opinions on others.Which is what I REALLY have a problem with.So maybe just put me on ignore..bc despite a wealth or information you continue to sidestep the real questions because you have unreasonable conviction.aA bunch of PFF articles & a few film cut ups doesn’t make you right.Im sorry..you haven’t convinced me of anything pertaining to Mayfield. His targets are open 80% of the time,His ball placement while good always seems to be to a wide open target/hitch & that’s before we get to the gimmick system & questionable measureables. Its not his height or hands that have me so scared. Its this “most accurate QB in the drafT” stuff that I think is a load of crap. Its wrapped up in stats & overlooking obvious reasoning for putting up those stats.

I could care less about “winning the argument” but the way you keep referencing such & continue to try to paint me as some Freud label or a negotiation ploy tells me what this all about for you.I stand by my opinion & don’t care who agrees & who doesn’t.siunds like it either threatens you or you just don’t like me.So be it.Its just funny that most of the folks whose opinion I value see this QB class the same way I do & are seeing the same flaws in the “mayfield movement”

I don't feel comfortable with the claim of what Rosen will or won't do behind the scenes with his coaches, or Mayfield or any QB in this class for that matter. We just don't have that level of access.

The only thing we can "see" is energy on the field and interactions with teammates. Mayfield is quite "showy" in this regard, but that doesn't mean the others aren't similar in this regard.

Concerning TE Mark Andrews, he states in one of the articles I previously posted that Mayfield always finds a "favorite" receiver that he develops a great chemistry with. It was Dede Westbrook, then it became Andrews when Westbrook left. Andrews credits Mayfield with helping elevate his play.

I totally agree about being ready for this to be over. I just want to know who we're picking and move on from speculation. Going to be a long summer anticipating seeing our new QB in the preseason. Regardless of who the Jets draft, you can't help but be excited by the prospect of them maybe finally solving this problem.

Hmm, I still think you have misunderstood the point of the original post but my you have become very defensive and quite abrasive.

So on that score (bolded) your own argument is only good for you as they don't have the QB you hate in the top 3, what a result eh lol

Again like I said in that huge post that you didn't read, I have no favourite QB in this draft and wanted the running back, well played sir, it is always nice to write a big post only for folk not to bother reading properly.

Again, again, the only reason I posted the "examples" is because you said the guy was not to be believed as he was just some schmuck off the internet and not an expert, can you not understand this analogy, it doesn't really matter tbh but I did try to use ones that contained our own/ex players to keep it relevant, showing that so called experts can be wrong, of course I never said they are always wrong, hell, the example in the first post showed the "expert" hit the first two out of the park, then got Lynch wrong and boom or busted Hack and that is pretty much also right, so 3 out of 4 for the expert.

But for you it easier to launch an attack and deflect everything that has been said, it seems easier than understanding the actual point.

Have a great day/afternoon or evening, timezone dependent.

He got into it with Trent Dilfer as a high schooler.

    http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/new...e-11-browns-giants/1v6da6sekzr4n15ti8b1h50afj

He won't be a YES man at the next level. Remember when McCown was yelling at the coaches on the sideline, at some point during the year? Eventually, I see Rosen doing the same thing. Perhaps not his rookie year, but it will happen. I do not think Rosen will go quietly in the night ala a David Carr who took like 70 sacks. I think that proof is on the wall and that's why he will drop to 3. After the OBJ issue, you think the Giants will select Rosen? Another head strong type of player?

Mark Andrews is a solid TE, if we didn't trade our picks, he would've been a good selection in the 2nd.

They better solve this damn problem! Its our turn for a franchise QB.

You keep going after anyone who likes Mayfield and I'm clearly square in that group. I also like Darnold and Rosen and Jackson but arguing for Mayfield is more fun for me, as not only is he my preference, but he's derided with such frequency by such unfounded claims. Bringing evidence to the contrary and engaging in discussion, on you know, a discussion forum, is a great way to improve your own knowledge and understanding and sharpen up your views, and is generally more fun. Challenging your own opinions is a tool for improving them, and what better way to challenge them then by exposing them and attempting to defend them.

I'm "badgering" people about my Mayfield opinions? Again, this is a message board. Petition the mods if you require a safe space or would prefer Mayfield fans get banned for thinking the way I do. I'm sure the discourse would improve significantly with everyone just agreeing with each other on everything.

I'm not going to put you on ignore because I have no reason to. The only poster I ever put on ignore made a 9/11 comment that made me feel violent towards them. Otherwise, I'm not bothered by differing points of view. They are often quite educational in fact.

I also know I will not convince many people of what I see. I'm not trying to. This is for my own entertainment and enjoyment. If you don't like it, oh well.

It's great every time there is a draft discussion on TV or the radio pointing out how the Jets screwed the Bills by moving up. Music to my ears.

Hopefully they don't negate that by messing up the pick.

  16. My problem isn’t the “Mayfield crowd” or even folks not likingAllen. Its the “what have you done for me lately”crowd that I take strong issue with.

You have your reasons for preferring Mayfield.I don’t 100% agree but I respect your opinion bc they at least to some extent go beyond stats/metrics.

The “what have you done for me lately crowd” sees Mayfield’s stats/completions,sees Allen’s Stats/completions & blindly proclaims “Mayfield or death”.When presented w arguments contrary to what the stats depict they either shut down or just repeat the same flawed reasoning. What’s frustrating is that this has blossomed into a whole movement within the fan base..It’s ignorant & embarassing.Somebody wants Mayfield & hates Allen’s guts?At least be open & engaged with discussion..that’s the furthest thing from the case. The closest thing to engagement is re hashing stats & open end “intangible” drivel

Go,argue somewhere else. You're spinning your wheels.
I didn't imply anything before. But be CLEAR, I'm saying it now. YOURE a Mayfield fanboy. He makes you wet, we all get it. You'll die defending him, right or wrong, whether someone is arguing against him or NOT. You aren't quick enough to distinguish between the 2. I've told you 1,000 times I understand and will accept either of the 2 if that's what it comes down to and for some unknown reason you keep hammering away that I need to want Mayfield and not want Allen. You're a baby who doesn't get this whole Internet forum idea of differing opinions. The, for the millionth time you say forget it. And guaranteed you'll come back to convince me again. It's lunacy. But you don't see that you're a fanboy. Hahaha

    Deflection? ok.

This condition exists with several posters and is not just limited to Mayfield supporters. It is a fact of life that "groups" contain good people, bad people, lazy people, smart people, dumb people, trolls, etc. Unless you are actively tracking an individual who is really bothering you, you won't get very far lumping everyone into one blanket group and proclaiming they are all wrong. In doing so, you are doing the very thing you are accusing them of doing, even when they are actually doing it.

Best to focus on the opinions, understand not just the opinion itself, but where it is coming from. We clearly see things differently based on what we've experienced and know. When seeing that someone else views this topic or the world for that matter differently, you can either a) work to understand it before agreeing or disagreeing or b) say "everyone who thinks that is dumb, and everyone who agrees with me is smart". B is just a path for the conversation to needlessly devolve as it is doing now.

We all want the Jets to win and be Super Bowl champions and make the Patriots eat their socks. This stuff is just filler while we wait. The fact that it has potential to be exciting is making the wait that much harder.

I think you also ignore the blind hatred by a lot poster on Mayfield, this then gets his "fanboys" why use such terms ? It always puzzles me tbh, Hack bots Geno bots, just fans looking, no hoping they were going to turn the Jets into something, anyway....

There is a lot of dislike for Mayfield that also ignores anything that he has achieved and for some posters they can't see past his height and claim that it is an instant bust but when others point out Bree's and Wilson's height it is irrelevant etc.

Turn your sentence around he who wants Allen also hates Mayfield, it works both ways but I am yet to see a sentence that says Allen fan boy, it is very odd tbh.

I feel forced to say I am neither a fan or am against either at number three, like I have said previously I am not sure any are an actual FQB in the future, but we do need to take the chance and if that chance is Mayfield then good and I will become a BakerBot as I want us to succeed and you will find me defending him like I did with Hack and I will do the same with Rosen/Darnald and Allen, maybe we should be called FQBbot's ;)

bro, you call everyone mayfield fanboys. It falls on deaf ears.

I made the mistake of defending mayfield once with you and you got all pissy in the same manner acting like I worship the kid or something. like dude, did the guy bang your ol' lady or somethin? relax...

if anything you have some fanboy for thinking a guy who was average to below-average at Wyoming should be viewed at whole better level as a prospect than a heisman trophy winner and 2-time All American.
