I don't think he's the best by any stretch of the imagination. Mayfield is more accurate and better at creating/extending plays. Mayfield is a better leader. Rosen is a more natural passer. Darnold is reckless with the football. He fumbles too much and throws too many interceptions. He has the least starting experience of any of the top 5 QB prospects. He regressed this season. If Mayfield and Rosen are taken, then I'd still take Darnold, but I'd rather have Mayfield for certain and probably rather have Rosen too. The only thing that concerns me about Rosen is his injury history.

YES!!! You don't trade away a bunch of picks to take a RB. The Jets need a QB. Period. End of story.

Bite your tongue! That would mean that the Browns took Mayfield #1. If that happened, I'd definitely take one of them, and it would be Rosen.

Mayfield has no character concerns. I also think that Darnold has the 2nd highest bust risk. He turns the ball over too much, has the hitch in his throwing motion, and has less starting experience than any of the top 5 QBs.

    Yeah, I don't buy this.

Drafting the better QB is better for business. I'd be extremely surprised if the Jets passed on Rosen.

If Rosen is there I think we all agree he will be the pick. Where the board is split is what happens if Darnold and Rosen are gone?

    Right. I would guess Allen.

Yeah, if Woody has a "Trump Supporter or Bust" motto for the locker room, it would eliminate quite a few players. Not a great philosophy. :D

As a die-hard Jets fan and overall football junkie I'm just curious as to how many of my fellow Jet fans have watched these quarterbacks in college? I watch a ton of college football and have seen each of these quarterbacks play numerous times, and came away extremely unimpressed. Every year there is always hype about the "top QBs in the draft", but to me, this years crop of QBs seems especially unimpressive. Its easy to get caught up in the hype about college QBs, especially if you haven't watched them play more than a couple of times, but none of them is a guy would I would take in the early first round. Hopefully I'm wrong and whoever we grab at #3 will end up being our franchise QB for the next 15 years, but I'm still hoping we move down and stack out our OL and many other needs, and wait for a good QB to take with our high pick next year.

Editing this to say I still hope we take a flier on Riley Ferguson, QB out of Memphis, who looked like the best college QB I saw this year, in one of the mid rounds.

I watched them all too. They all impressed me a lot. Moving from college to the NFL is really a toss up if the QB can handle it though. Several college QB's have looked great to me in college then tanked in the NFL, where as many college QB's I haven't seen much potential in have had great NFL careers too. I was pretty sure Aaron Rodgers would become an elite QB. However, I was pretty sure Christian Hackenberg would become one too. Darnold and Mayfield impressed me the most on the field. I can see how Rosen's skill transfers to the NFL too. I was the least impressed with Allen, but he has a rocket arm and all the potential to be great too.

I would definitely give up hope on moving down and stacking the OL. It would be insane to trade up, then trade down. Haha.

While this year's crop was touted even before last year's draft, and really didn't live up to that hype, the top 4 - Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, and Allen - all showed great promise, even if they also showed some flaws. On the other hand, I haven't heard of any of 2019's crop being raved about. Not to say one or more turn out to be the next P, Manning or A. Luck, but saying you'd completely pass on this year's offering for next year's is something I wouldn't do. And especially if there is a QB that Macc thinks can fit his criteria for FQB this year, which by trading up to #3 proves he believes one or more of these guys fits.

I'll take your word that you watch a great deal of football, but so do all the "experts" and they're often wrong. I'm not saying I'm right, but having watched football for over 50 years, I too have some idea of what it takes to succeed in the NFL, and I have no doubt that Rosen and Mayfield and Darnold can; I do have doubts about Allen, but he could also turn out to be the next Big Ben or Brett Favre. Who in 2019 do you think is worth passing these guys over for?

Mac had to make this trade because if he can't find a FQB this year, there won't be a next year for him.

I can't see how I or any of you can predict which QB is the best pick for the Jets. We don't know exactly who the Browns or Giants might pick to start with.

My prediction is the guy who ends up being the best QB in this draft will be the guy to who is most dedicated to his craft. Which guy is willing to devote his life to football? Which guy will spend more time studying films instead of enjoying the New York night life. Which guy will get the most admiration and respect of his teammates? Which guy will have the most desire to succeed?

These questions can not be answered by listening to the media or watching films. None of us have the opportunity to sit down with these prospects and figure out what they are made of.

I know some of you will argue what about Namath? Didn't he go out partying and womanizing? Sure but if you look further you will find a guy who played in more pain than most athletes. A QB who had the greatest footwork of any QB which didn't happen by accident. This took serious dedication to the craft, something Bill Walsh recognized. Namath definitely dedicated his life to the game.

So if any of you can tell me which prospect has the most desire to be champion, then I will know how to answer this question.

Too many Allen haters on this site:mad: Invest 1:47 seconds to watch this Senior Bowl video.....best college vs. best college....
Allen started slow, but showed he can make all the throws....

Then if you have time to kill, go watch Carson Wentz in 2017 Senior Bowl....

Are people not aware of the concussion issues with Rosen or just don’t care/choose to ignore them?

We’ve seen plenty of NFL players retire early for that very reason and it’s not like that number will decrease as we learn more and more

Rosen is a good prospect but his play isn’t that much better than the others to the point where I’m ignoring this huge red flag
