Not what you want the Jets to do, but what they will do.

    Re-Sign:
    ILB-DeMario Davis
    CB-Morris Claiborne
    QB-Josh McCown

    Cut
OG-James Carpenter: Not a fit in Bates Zone blocking system
WR-Jermaine Kearse: Too expensive and takes snaps away from Enunwa, Hansen, and Stewart.

    Free Agent Signings

C-John Sullivan: If you are bringing in a young QB it’s not a bad idea to have a veteran center. PFF ranked him 10th overall amongst centers in 2017 so definitely an upgrade over Wesley Johnson. He’s also a local guy from Greenwich CT so I could see him wanting to play his last few years close to home.

OG-Justin Pugh: I think Gettleman is going to grab his man Norwell and the Jets are going to get some payback for Snacks Harrison. Pugh is a better fit in Bates’ system than Norwell and Carpenter.

CB-EJ Gaines: I don’t think McCagnan will want to break the bank on signing Butler or Trumaine Johnson into their 30’s given his experience with Revis.

HB-Dion Lewis: Jets always like to go after Patriots, and Lewis seems like a reasonable replacement for Forte and eventually Powell next year. He can also return kicks which is a plus

WR: Paul Richardson: Can do some of the same things as Robby Anderson and is still young at age 26.

TE: Tyler Eifert: The Jets won’t break the bank for this position IMO-I think they are happy with Tomlinson and they also have Leggett. Eifert is the kind of guy that you can take a shot on when you have cap flexibility.

It’s more than likely most of us will be disappointed with the free agent spending.

#1: Most of the Top FA won’t hit free agency
#2: The Jets aren’t a franchise guys are lining up to pay for

If the Jets get Cousins it will be him, an olineman and a cb. I'd think it'd be Cousins, Jensen at center and Malcolm Butler as the big three signings and then a few others who aren't big names to fill holes.

If they do not get Cousins I still think they sign a center or guard, two cornerbacks at reasonable prices, Alex Okefor (DE/OLB), and build the team up for the qb they will draft. They will also resign McCown between 12-15 million or McCarron, Keenum, Bridgewater type between 15 and 20 million on a team friendly deal and still draft a qb.
