I'm not trying to bring anyone down. I enjoyed the win, for the most part. I'm just saying that we're going to be seeing posts all week about making the playoffs, just like after the NE win, and then after our next loss, it's going to be like it was after the Chicago loss. This board is too much go-with-the-flow and change your mind after every loss type of thing, and it's stupid.
Just saying. A mod came in, saw it, responded, left the thread, another mod came in, probably saw it, and left the thread... Yet "ass" is INSTANT 1 week ban.
If you guys are going to make every single incident a mod referendum, I will lock every one of these threads. Move on right now.
You don't know how the behind the scenes process works. Can you just be satisfied now. I'm starting to get annoyed.
We are 5-1 against teams that we are supposed to beat. (those with losing records). So this year we do have a tendency to beat teams that we need to! I don't see this team falling apart like the old Jets would've done!!
I think most of us know that the actions of one rogue mod don't represent all the mods, but a freeing of 17a and an admission of the mistake would go a long way to stopping the nonsense.
Boo-hoo. We only beat the Texans. Tell that to the Jags will ya. What was first passing for anger is starting to sound a lot more like whining, imo.
Oh dear, I'm whining because we WON? Does that even make sense, or did you just press "Submit Reply" without actually reading your post?
Would you rather us have played like the Giants and blew a 21 point lead to a terrible team? We beat a team we were supposed to beat and they lost to one they should have beaten....
please explain why @ 6-5 and our schedule compared to the other wild card contenders and their schedule we don't have a shot? Look at home and away schedule, strength of schedule, AFC record, head to head records, head to head match-ups between team currently in front of us -- you run through that andtell us if you don't see a serious opportunity for this team to make the playoffs
Well, I assumed that your thread was in retaliation to the feel good threads about the Jets win. By saying "keep this in mind, it was only the Texans" implies that we are not justified in being happy over the win, because it was "only" the Texans. And although the Jets may not be the most talented team, they're not that far off from their peers. Besides, the Jets have a cupcake schedule remaining, while other teams in the hunt have a much tougher path. It's hard not to think they don't have a shot at squeezing into the WC spot, considering all the factors. Maybe you don't like setting your hopes up high, so you can protect yourself from being disappointed, but to say that there's no realistic chance for the Jets to make it to the playoffs is just absurd.
I think this has more to do with the concept that the sunshiner/darksider dichotomy has become much subtler on this board in the present time. Posters who are more prone right now to the sunshine will be overly optimistic after wins and those more prone to the darkside will be more present with negative posts after losses. That may cause the cosmetic look of the collective emotional ups and downs experienced on the board.
I actually started it in the middle of the 4th quarter, so it was just bad timing on reading the thread which is understandable. A win is a win so you should be happy about it, but to start with the playoff confidence at this point is stupid, because it IS just the Texans, and a strong performance by individual players or teams doesn't show much. It's definitely not out of the realm of reality to make the playoffs at this point, but the feel CONFIDENT that we're going to make it and to say, well, look at our schedule is just ignorant because it's setting yourself up for failure. I just worded it poorly, my mistake.
We started the Playoff talks a few weeks ago. We have had years where the Playoffs weren't a good possibility and we go there anyway. All you need to think of is 2002 and 2-5. Nothing ignorant about it.
Nothing we did this week makes up for giving the game away to Chicago. That's why I'm not celebrating just yet. I do believe we will make the playoffs (even though Grossman just threw away our division hopes, stupid SOB) but I don't see us getting anywhere once we get there.
Who is feeling "confident" that the Jets will make the playoffs? If you reference the less-than-rational RobA, that wouldn't say much, since he's clearly a lunatic. I think the feeling around here is more of "cautionary optimism" than just full blown confidence. And there's plenty of reason to feel that way, too. You may think that looking at the schedule is ignorant, but what's wrong with gauging the difficulty of the remaining season by taking strength of schedule into account? Obviously, the Jets aren't gauranteed any wins, but looking at the schedule does provide a way to get an idea of how the season has a high chance of going down. Also, I don't mean to be a dick, but you sort of deserve all the remarks you've gotten so far. Next time, you might want to clarify your opinions abit further than just "They're just the Texans. Jets have no shot at playoffs". I get what your saying now, but it's practically a whole different tune to what you were originally saying.
