I haven't been keeping up with what's going on with DiFillipo except that he was up for the Cards' HC job. Guess he didn't get it, but isn't he still under contract with the Eagles? If not, then I agree, but if so, maybe the Eagles refused to let the Jets talk to him again.

All signs point to Wilks getting the Cards job, hasn’t been made official as of yet though. Difillipos contract with Eagles is up which is why I and I’m sure most others thought he would be a logical candidate.

Thanks for the info. With that being the case, then I think it's nuts that the Jets didn't hire DiFilippo, but maybe he wasn't interested in talking with them.

I hate this hire. Bates has a ton of gaps in his resume. He may be a bright offensive mind, but not sure if his committment will be there.

I looked over the twitter reply’s and a bunch of people asked about the connection and while he responded to a troll he never responded to the actual questions looking for info.

Most likely this is some nobody throwing shit at the wall hoping it will stick so he can say he called it.

This move is a bit puzzling. Jeremy Bates was our QB coach responsible for studs such as Hackenburg and Petty. I'm surprised that they'd do this with Haley available. This is basically how Morton got promoted last year. I guess we'll see what happens. It's going to be crucial to bring in a good QB coach now.

I really am sick and tired of this royal asshole getting whatever the fuck he wants like the Jets team is his own personal scratch pad. Blowes is now on his 3rd OC in 4 seasons. How many times does he get to point the dirty end of the stick at anyone but himself. As far as I'm concerned he's an incompetent, stupid ass that should have been fired in 2016.

This is his last second chance at doing ANYTHING with this pathetic offense and I can tell you right now, even if he gets a Manning equivalent in the draft, he'll still manage to make the offense look like shit.

Blowes doesn't even attend offensive meetings. Doesn't that make things perfectly clear he can't handle the responsibilities of an entire team. He's just too dumb.

Lots of teams were after Bates!! Akron university, Ball state, and Wagner college were all considering him for their OC job, but we the New York freaking Jets absolutely stole him from them!! Go crazy folks !

Per Adam Schefter: Jets expected to promote their QB coach Jeremy Bates to offensive coordinator, per league sources.

Don't know how true the following is but I heard in one of the many Jets podcasts out there (can't remember which one exactly) that Bates had a "big hand" in game planning and the scripted first 12-15 plays while Morton called the game exclusively. "Big hand" as in a lot more than your ordinary QB coach would. This is interesting since we started most games pretty well offensively this past season showing some creativity and innovation but tended to fade and become more predictable as the game progress. Is it possible we were seeing the difference between the Bates' influence on O vs strictly Morton's? This would explain why they were so ready to usher Morton out for Bates. Just a thought.

That's interesting to think about. I wasn't aware of that, but it does make sense, with all those 4th quarter collapses.

If Elmo was on the Jets staff he would also be regarded as the brightest offensive mind in the building. It’s apparent that no one else knows jack SHIT.

Fun fact: Bates was our QB coach in 2005. That was the year Pennington and Fiedler got hurt, Bollinger started 9 games, and we brought back Testaverde.

WOW. That's really a big, bright shining star on his resume. God help us. ..

Well not thrilled with the OC pick but.....

The connection of Bates with Cousins and Josh Allen...two QBs Ide prefer not to see here is absolutely nauseating

Listen guys...when you think this out Bates the OC will try to do his thing enjoy his promotion and then probably get stuck in Bowles Fly Paper when he tries to put that "brilliant mind " to work on improving the offense and Bowles wants something outa Woody Hayes playbook lmao..just watch...and then bingo we lose games and THEY ALL get canned

The Browns own the first and fourth pick..if they want a young QB they already got a bad message from Rosen the Chosen and a big meh from Sam D...so viola they grab the step just above Hack and Petty project Allen as their miracle kid....Man I hope it plays out this way ...remove that hero temptation from Mac and Bates and stay away from Allen

Cousins won't come here because he wants to win now...anyway the dude had trouble beating the Giants so feh to that option...Bates connection won't matter

Gut and head say for Mac to trade up for Rosen and get us the Gold Medal for once in this lifetime!!!!!

Until an announcement is made I prefer to believe this is just an unfounded rumor.

Would anyone care to show any facts, results or relative experience (not emotion, not rumor) that indicate Jeremy Bates has the ability to improve the Jets offense?

All I am saying is that I want an OC who is going to put the time in. This guy seems like somebody who isnt looking for this kind of responsibility considering he had to be convinced to take the job

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and I'm not sure why, and say he's gonna be good. Its the look in his eye. The fact he had the balls to hike across the country alone. At bare minimum, he's got balls.
