They were trigger happy for 1 team only. It was glaringly obvious and worthy of intense investigation and scrutiny.
Playoff game in foxborough, wouldn't expect anything less. Officiating in the NFL is incredibly inconsistent, and winning teams often get more calls. It's a huge problem in the NFL. Paired with a very convoluted rule book and you have a sport that is not fun to watch sometimes because officiating plays too much a part into the end result.
One thing's for sure. It's kind of dumb that the most costly penalty in football is the DPI. Any kind of personal foul is punished less than a DPI. You could straight up intentionally injure a guy and it's less of a penalty than a DPI. Kind of stupid.
The refs DEFINATELY were a help as usual to the Pats. Nothing new here we have seen this so many times,,,but EFFING Brady does it again,,ugh .At least I have Bowels and his in game coaching and adjustments next year to look forward to----ugh! So who has the best shot to beat the Pats in the big game I have to say the Vikings
Nobody! this shit will continue for the next 5 years. This Pats team wouldn't even make the playoffs in the 70s,80s or 90s Its all cause of lack of competition, theyre not that great.Blame it on a weak NFL!
The same can be said for any sport though. In basketball, officials can call every foul against one team. In hockey, a team can keep getting power plays over and over, penalties called at key moments of the game, or non-calls against the other team. In soccer, refs can give free kicks in key spots, penalty kicks, and cards. In baseball, you could have an umpire who is more forgiving to one team's pitcher vs the other team. At the end of the day it comes down to integrity. What is the risk to these leagues? Referees have been calling crappy games for years, but they're never held accountable by their employers who supposedly want fair play and fans keep watching anyway. If fans stopped watching, then maybe something would be done. Remember Super Bowl XL? How everyone agreed that the referring was an abomination in favor in Pittsburgh? Yet, next season came and people kept watching. So many controversies involving NE, yet the next season came and people kept watching. No risk to the league to keep doing what they're doing. People are more likely to stop watching football because of the anthem controversy over crappy refereeing and seemingly fixed matches.
I actually like the way they do it in college. PI is a 15 yard penalty (automatic first down) and defensive holding is a 10 yard penalty (without a automatic first down).
Vikings are our only hope. Feel like the Pats would smack the Eagles. In reality tho, the Pats are winning another SB.
It's why Belechick (spelling intentional) gets so many 2nd half wins...it's not so much his adjustments that win games, it's the other team getting conservative and changing their game plans.
Guys it doesn't matter. You know the script 0 penalties on NE and they hold/grab/tackle. 20-10 in the 4th. Patriots win SB 24-20.
Do you think the fact that every breath an opponent takes results in a penalty has any effect on gameplan? If I were Jax and calling that game I'd get terrified too. How do you play defense? How do you try to be aggressive on offense. What do you think the results will be. Flags. Wasn't like that all year. But it is now. So what do you do?
