Meh, call me crazy, but something tells me Woody would not have hired Marrone anyway. You seem to forget, just as much as Leon had cornered the market on bad hiring decisions, Woody has also. Al groh, Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini, toilet, etc??? That's a real who's who of bad hires. Besides, Woody's other wonderful hire Mac probably would not have liked Marrone as the HC.
The jury is still out on Mac IMO. His draft picks haven't yielded a lot of impact players, but Leo, Adams, and Maye might be. This year's draft will make or break his tenure as Jets GM. Need to get at least a QB, OL(C and maybe LT), and RB.
Agreed. This is the off season that will make or break his career in NY. Don't forget Anderson looks promising also. He looks to be an excellent up and coming player. Just not sure his body frame can handle a 10+ year career. Objectively speaking up until 2017 his drafts are a net sum of shit. If he manages to get the offense on track with a QB, OL, the fans opinion of him will rise dramatically.
Also, I wasn't a fan of taking 2 safeties to start last year's draft with Mahomes sitting right there. If one of the top QB prospects is available at 6 and a defensive player is taken, Mac should be fired on the spot.
