I still think you're quoting the wrong person because nowhere have I displayed blind faith in the coaching staff. Just because I as well as 95% of the people who have seen Petty play realize that he's awful, that doesn't mean we are behind the coaching staff. It means he's a terrible QB playing for a bad coaching staff. So in your mind hating on Petty makes you a CS homer? That doesn't add up. The two can be mutually exclusive and are in this case.
what scares me is that Petty's crappy showing is indicative of this CS's inability to develop players... the kid has been here 3yrs and Hack 2, neither seems worth a damn.
Right? Petty, the 4th rounder, being awful is somehow on our coaching staff. I love it. Petty denial might be worse than Ratliffe denial, if you remember that.
Champ, you are the original hard core skeptical Jet Fan. The likes of you and I will never come again my friend.
Could be, but could also be just that not all QBs pan out. Plenty of very good teams miss on QBs in the draft especially outside of the 1st round
A 4th rd pick is no slouch ... ours has been on the roster for 3 years and looks to be regressing . , Our 2nd rd pick can’t even sniff the field for 2 full seasons . That’s a problem for me . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, given that only 4 Qbs out of the countless Qb's drafted by the Jets including Namath have ever amounted to anything at all, you have to wonder if the Jets seek out Qb's that suck and draft them thinking they can develop them. What are the odds of all the Qb's drafted by the Jets over the last 49 years that only 4 were serviceable? Hell, Macc is already zero for the draft regarding Qb's going back 3 years. Should be enough to get him another 4 years as GM in Florham Pk. Well, maybe we can take for granted that if the Jets draft a QB, he's gonna suck even if he's got some talent coming out of college. Maybe we need somebody else doing the scouting and the drafting when it comes to college Qb's.
Then cut him. I mean, there's been no endorsement from the coaching staff. No statements about him "coming along" of note. His play must be witnessed in practice, and I believe bowles has alluded to the fact that he's a crap sandwich. So, why keep him. And worse, crap sandwich #2 who is a second round pick, is not as good as crap sandwich #1. So, why have 2 crap sandwiches? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I guess we can safely conclude that Mac has no idea what accuracy means? He's picked two QB's now and both of them cannot hit the most elementary and simple throws. This is concerning when you figure he will be choosing a QB (possibly two) in the draft.
My guess is the Jets didn't do anything to develop his skills and he rotted and now he's terrible. Same with Hackenberg.
I watched the Steelers for a few minutes yesterday. It's painful to see an organization that has it's stuff together and has solid teams year in and year out, unlike the Jets.
Why does his being a 4th rounder matter ? Brady 6th rounder, wanker of the highest order, top QB for 14 years or whatever, you think he got no coaching to improve at all before he got his break through ? Petty has gone backwards not improved, can only imagine how far backwards Hack as got that they are now to frightened to even put him on the pitch when Petty was god awful, if I was a QB in this coming draft I would be terrified at these words "..... is selected by the Jets with the 5-8th selection" fucking terrified. After all that being said I don't think we are picking a QB in round 1 anyway, we will be going FA or McCown and a later round "project" QB
The Jets would be doing every young QB a favor coming out this season by not drafting them. If we're not known already as a young QB graveyard, we will be...Macc, please just keep signing FA Vet Qb's and leave the "Qb development" to organizations that know how to do it. This place has become the NFL version of Alcatraz when it comes to young rookie Qbs.
I'm sure they will eventually, but someone has to play quarterback for the rest of the season and the other guy has to back him up.
Brady was accurate in Michigan; coaching didn't make him accurate. He was drafted 6th because of his physical measurables or lack there of. Petty never called plays in a huddle prior to the Jets, had little to no experience taking 3-5-7 step drops from center, learn to progress through multiple reads..etc. All that had to be coached to him. The fact that he is still inaccurate as he was coming out is not on the CS.
