Yesterday showed why McNown started the whole year. Bowles knew he gave them the best chance to win and the offense wouldn't look pathetic. The d played great yesterday. If it weren't for them we would've lost by 40. Bowles knew how limited Petty is and knows how much more Hackenburg is.

I don't think we ruined Petty. I just don't think Petty is that good. Some players are just not that good and no matter coaching they don't improve. Unfortanately Petty isn't that good and coaching won't help. Bowles knew this and protected the fans from this. Not the biggest Bowles fan but he deserves a qb. Then we'd know what he could do.

As long as that QB if a veteran, I agree with you. I don't want to see the Jets ruin anymore young Qb's with shoddy training and development. There is no way that out of every QB drafted since Namath, only 4 have been serviceable and ALL the rest were no talent bums. This team just doesn't develop young QB talent or simply doesn't have anyone yet on the CS that knows how to do it.

Maybe Petty just isn't that good?

Its not like there is a long list of QB's who have left the Jets to find great success. I would argue that they dont ruin young QB's, but that they dont know how to evaluate and pick QB's.

This is the guy who's gonna make the call on the Jets first round pick QB in the 2018 draft.

The thought scares the cr@p outta me.

    Bam there it is!

They treated Petty like he's a rookie last week he's in his third season.

If he sucks he sucks let him show what he is like they did with Buttfumble & Geno who were given freedom to turn the ball over like crazy, play cr@p football until we couldn't take it anymore. That way at least there can be ZERO DOUBT.

I can sit here right now and say (as disappointing as it is) that I KNOW what type of QBs Buttfumble & Geno ARE they both SUCK @SS!

Petty has been here since year 1 with this regime stop treating him like he's a freakin' rookie!!!

There's some merit to your argument. I don't disagree, but i think he is so inaccurate that they don't know whether to let or rip or just hold back.

By holding back what exactly are they 'finding out' about Petty? Nothing that's what. More like they've already made up their minds about him they have zero confidence in him and it's about saving face so the GM and the coaches don't look too too bad.

Which brings up another question if they have so little confidence in Petty to run the offense why is he here?

Petty isnt even good enough to play in the CFL.

Big 12 QBs are always busts.

Well i think its the CS who looks incompetent if they let him do that and he bombs. Then it looks like they dont put qbs in a position to succeed and the rest of the team loses morale. I mean its happening in Cleveland. Kizer is done as a qb in this league before he ever got started and the once safe Hue is on the chopping block.

Did you see his footwork? You and I have better instincts with our footwork than Bryce does. Some one else mentioned it, but after 3 years in the NFL sloppy footwork should not still be something your working on.

He should have a lot of those mechanics worked out and should be at a level where he is learning as much as he can about the new offensive scheme.

I can't believe that after all these years playing football Petty is still working on his mechanics.

Macc screwed up, he doesn't know how to evaluate QBs and I believe he will screw up choosing the next QB as well.

Petty has one more year here in the Gulag. My guess is that he's auditioning for his next team, not TB and Macc. Maybe Morton will let Petty be Petty instead of dink and dunking all day long. Probably not but WTH, a guy can dream right...

I'm thinking once Petty is done here, he'll get picked up by another team in the league. If not, he'll go to Canada and play. It doesn't really matter anymore what we think as fans or what the CS/FO thinks of Petty as his time here is done as soon as his rookie deal is up. Fans here can say Petty sucks until the cows come home and it will change absolutely nothing. As it is, EVERY Qb since Pennington that the Jets have drafted sucked once they put on a Jets uniform. If they didn't suck before they got drafted by the Jets, they certainly sucked after being groomed by an expert CS.

Macc will once again seek out a Qb that will suck in the NFL, draft him and try to sell a gullible fanbase on how great he will be one day. Sadly, the homers will buy into it.

Two possessions into the game and Petty is still awful. He had a curse wide-open on a bomb and he completely botched of the thrill. He's terrible.

You can't ruin what was already bad . Petty was a product of Baylors one read offense, which doesn't translate to the NFL.

Petty's time has come and gone. He didn't respond to the challenge presented him. There are very few do-overs in life and Petty flunked his bigtime. He might be a good kid and all that, but he's not a NFL Qb. He has failed himself on this and has no one to blame but himself for his poor showings under the lights. To play in the TriState, you have to rise to the moment. Petty didn't.

Petty wasn't ever anything. Every jets fan wants him too succeed, ignoring the obvious is a fan boy... hey, we've all been a biased fan of a player before, but you can't ignore he is awful and never showed anything more than maybe a good half

Onward and upwards to making a more intelligent decision at drafting a QB

So far : Petty.. a half baked 4th rounder; Hack... a poor college QB who is now a poor NFL QB

I am giving MM a third chance here...his real challenge is picking/researching THE BEST out of big 3 and Allen ...then wheeling and dealing our way up the draft position to get him
