What about all those All-Pro Qb's Bates has developed?? Doesn't he get credit for that? Dang Ingrates!!
That must have been in 2011 or 2013-2016. Knowing Wikipedia is not quite an unimpeachable source, but they don't seem to have him doing anything at all in those years. Maybe a double-secret quarterback enrichment program somewhere unknown. He had a history with Morton but does not seem to have held a position longer than one season in the past ten years. With two young quarterbacks that sadly needed tutelage is he really the best they could find or just more continued blundering on the part of Bowles? We never did find out why Bowles fired his predecessor, Kevin (who?) Patullo. Just shows how dedicated the organization has been to grooming these young guys.
Apparently Todd Bowles appreciates him enough to make him a strong candidate to be his 3rd offensive coordinator in 4 years. Perhaps the 3rd time's the charm.
Apparently he has been an OC before with Seattle (one season in 2010) and was a play caller for Denver. Here's an article on him from Manish (I know, I know), but some good stuff in there. Sounds like he's highly respected in the building. Get the feeling it's gonna be Bates... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...-bates-oc-sign-kirk-cousins-article-1.3764056
Thanks for the link. It was a good read. Sounds like it's gonna be Bates and Cousins. I hope it works. If the Jets can't get Cousins I hope they have a good plan to address qb before the draft.
If the Jets make Bates the OC it will just continue the impression that they're a minor league team, not able to attract any real experienced coaching talent. Who knows? Maybe he really is the "Next, bright, genius", but what are the odds? Three OCs n four years! How the hell can the Johnsons trust Bowles/Macc to hire anyone who's competent with that track record? This situation screams out for hiring a Pres. of Football Ops, but it's not going to happen. What a farce!
They're always able to bring in decent defensive staff candidates, but every time it's anything involving the offense this is an issue. The coordinators see the same thing we do. Offense & scoring is not a priority within player personnel or OC longevity. It's comical that everytime housecleaning takes place on the CS it goes back to no OC wanting to come here b.c of the obvious. Until Florham park stops sidestepping this notion & hiding behind "organizational balance" when in reality there is no balance w. everything catered to the defense, absolutely nothing will change. I'm now convinced more than ever that FA & the draft will be all about the defense. For about the 10th year in a row.. we're left w. no other means for hope than "Maybe NEXT YEAR offense will be a priority". If this regime is still here however don't count on it. 5-11 here we come!
We did it guys, We searched high and far, no stone was left unturned, but in the end it HAD to be Jeremy Bates.
I agree with this except the part about how can the Johnsons trust Bowles/Mac to hire anyone who's competent. How would the Johnsons know if Bowles/Mac had hired anyone competent? They aren't competent themselves, and Woody is the one who hired both Bowles and Mac. It's like the blind leading the blind.
