Now that's impossible - everybody knows that it's flying horses like Pegasus that can fly, not unicorns!
Maybe 1-2 if we're lucky. NE will play us hard and try to embarrass us regardless of if they need the game or not Jets will get crushed against the Saints. Suppose we can beat the Chargers at home. Toss up. Still have to draft a QB. QB's with more talent than Petty will be available.
If Petty does what the OP suggests, we should kick back and relax because we're all dead and in paradise. But assuming the most likely happens and he loses all three, if he looks competent doing that, he should go into camp with a full opportunity to win the job. I wouldn't sign Cousins or Luck or any other vet, and I would draft the best QB I can get my hands on. If Hack has shown enough that he might someday actually make a positive contribution, I take him to camp; if not, I cut him loose and sign McCown as backup/mentor. If he shits the bed entirely, then all options are on the table.
If he lights it up then he earns the opportunity to compete with our highest drafted QB, McCopter, and whoever replaces Hackenberg.
All he has to do is play well. Show some progress each game. Get rid of McCown and Hack and look for a FQB with our first draft pick. It depends on the scouts bringing back positive information. Then it's up to Mac (if he isn't gone along with Bowles) to make the move. From then on it's BPA on O line and edge rushers with CB' after that. Pick up a vet QB to mentor and back up Petty and the draft pick.
He goes down for the season with a non-contact Achilles injury next year while throwing a pass during the first series of the first game.
If he goes 3-0 with this garbage team against the Saints, Chargers and Patriots he should be in the discussion for MVP..j/k
Bryce Petty is starting and Vegas has our Jets as 17 point dogs. The last time the Jets were 17 point underdogs was the last game Bryce Petty started haha
Petty wins these three games? Bowles gets a five year extension for doing such a good job developing young quarterbacks.
If that happens I'll eat my hat. Literally, I'll put some salt on it and consume the entire thing. There is pretty much no chance, but hey, any given Sunday, right?
I Petty goes 3-0 Macc will sign Bowles to a 10 year contract, trade Petty for a first round pick and then draft two defensive lineman in the first round. Then two more in the 2nd.
If he was that capable, I think we would have seen it by now. We haven't. Remember when Glen Foley was the guy that was the diamond in the rough that was getting the shaft? Brooks Bollinger? I hope petty does light it up and shows something. I also hope my accord can run a 7sec quarter. I wish Santa was real. Hey let's try this... This is a very interesting question, and one that should actually be talked about. I don't think that this type of scenario would even take 3-0 to become viable. Only a true progression and awareness on display with some impressive stats should get it done. However, I have a more intriguing and difficult one for you: What if Petty goes out of the first game in the first series, Hackenberg comes in and does the exact same hypothetical thing?...
Here's something that's very possible considering historical evidence: what if petty gets hurt. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
That's just wrong, 13 days till Christmas and you tell us There is no Santa! What next, you going to tell us no Superbowl this year? We can't get Darnold in this upcoming Draft????? Grinch!!!!
