I don't think Ealy is making that much. He's sure to get a raise if he keeps playing at this level, but hopefully, it won't be an astronomical amount.
This may be an overreaction on my part, but if I could only keep one of the two, I'd keep Kony over Wilk based on performance and cost.
My complete guess... a moral compass? Maybe he didn't feel comfortable playing in a culture of cheating.
Just the way it goes with free agency. If there's any degree of competition for his services on the open market, someone will overpay for him. Happens every year.
All his fighting talk after being labeled fat by a reporter has proved to be just that... Talk. Disappointing really, if his shoulder injury is that limiting he shouldn't make the team, he may as well not for all his worth atm.
The fact is that Kony Ealy has given this team an extra push and the defense overall is rallying around him. The Carolina Panthers picking Kony Ealy in the 2nd round is a GREAT pick. Remember this is the same team that selected KRIS JENKINS in the 2nd round? Based on those two picks alone it's safe to say they have done a better job at selecting players in the 2nd round than the Jets have. Anyway, this guy can flat out ball out there. The young players see that. They are bust their asses trying to support that and be like him? Could he be developing into a leader for this team?
he's making 800k this year. if he keeps it up he'll get a good deal for sure form the jets in the offseason. maybe as much as 8mil a year or so?
Let's see. A team that went to a Super Bowl and who drafted him let him go. The Super Bowl champion who need help on the defensive side let him go. Afterwords Ealy said he had problems with BB. Yeah, I don't care how good of a season this guy has. If you give him big money then don't be surprised when things start to go south. Those are pretty big warning signs right there.
Actually, I don't believe that's what Ealy said. He said that there "seemed" to be a thing between BB and he after he missed the first day of TC. He didn't say that there were definite problems. BB is very particular about the types of players he keeps and what he expects of them. Ealy may not have done anything wrong, or it could have been something minor. I think you're rushing to judgement and jumping to conclusions.
Ealy isn't the first guy to not be a Belichick guy. Talib is one of the best Corners in the league and Hoodie refused to pay him.
While you mentioned I missed the opportunity to use the classic Simpsons line of 'neeeerd' in place of the Breaking Bad meme of 'yeah, science bitch,' I have to say. I feel like you could've done much better than this, HOTJ.
I’d love to see him actually get a sack. I know there’s more to it than that, but as an edge rusher without one sack it’s tough to call him Maccagnan’s best move.
Kind of sucks to hear that Ealy is gonna be out this week after having a great week last week, hopefully is a go for NE.
You don't have any warning signs. You have NOTHING to point to in the way of red flags. Carolina traded him in a deal where they were trying to move up in the draft I believe? Who knows why they dangled him as trade bait? Maybe because Belichick thought he was a great player and a player that would close the deal with NE? In regards to Belichick cutting him, do you have any articles pointing out that Belichick hated him? That Ealy told Belichick to go fuck himself? My point is, this is all speculation. You are choosing to believe the bad that be read into this. I think it's just as possible that Carolina traded him because they already had enough DL and could afford to trade him? I'm also thinking Belichick wa just an idiot that traded away a very good player because he was maybe late for a meeting?
