Who wudda thunk it? I can't even remember the last time the Jets even tried, much less pulled off a fake punt. Rontez Miles about screwed it up however, not watching where he was going. He ran into Williams and jumped on his back. What a dumbass! Powell's and McGuire's plays were great. The OL seems to be playing a lot better. Maybe they aren't as awful as everyone thought. It looks like we can forget getting a top 2-3 pick. Maybe Mac hasn't been as awful as many here claim and maybe Bowles is better than we thought. We'll see how the Jets look when the schedule gets tougher.
Bowles has been better than we've gave him credit for; including myself. And Macc has made some excellent moves win or lose we're now rebuilt into a young competitive team. For all the Bowles "lacks discipline" talk it's funny. Because the Jets have been the least penalized team in the league since Bowles took over. Now that's discipline. And those two runs by Powell & McGuire had me going nuts especially the Powell TD being down 7-0. That saved our day. Punt fake was insane just stunk to see a missed FG thereafter.
McGuire looks like a steal in the 6th. Mac appears to be good at getting value out of those late picks and UDFAs (e.g. Andersen). That's a positive, for sure.
Just inconsistent-- he is often excellent, and often terrible. To be horrible, you need to be rarely excellent and almost always terrible.
He's frustrating. He had some beauties yesterda, mainly the one that put the Jags on the 3, but also shanked a big one. Nothing worse than having a punter or kicker walk on the field and not knowing what you're going to get.
They tried a fake punt one time with Tebow, I believe. I also remember them trying it vs the Packers in 09.
He sucked until that last punt but he won the game with that last one. Anything less than the punt he gave us and we're 1-2-1. Fuck ties.
Come on it's a little too early to bring out the champagne yet. All I think this has proven is that our vets were not contributing relative to their salaries and the decision to get rid of them all was wise. The team was properly dismantled, but building a new team will be the harder task.
I'm just hoping for a win against the browns and seeing the team have a winning record for first time in a long while . I love how the attitude around here has taken a complete 180 but I think we're being a little too reactionary here .we still haven't played anyone good yet . The rest of the schedule is daunting .
LOL that's true in general at my age, but I've pretty much intentionally blocked out the Tim Tebow era of the Jets.
On sny loudmouths they said "the jets were a fun team to watch" Looking back at the game I can't remember when the jets had As many big plays in one game 1- defensive lineman interception 2- two long td runs 3- 30 yard fake punt 4- 40+ yard pass to anderson 5- 30 yard run by Powell 6- big goal line stand in 4th quarter to hold jags to tieing fg instead of go ahead td Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
I feel like we have a specialty for getting players who Shank a punt weekly for at least 5 years now. Who the fuck is finding these guys.
