The new 'down by contact rule is so dumb'

    This almost cost the Cowboys against the Colts.

    Fasano catches a first down and is whistled down, so he gets up and tosses the ball away. Indy jumps on it and then challenges the play saying he was never touched. (He was, but barely). This could have cost them a massive win against the Colts.

    Dumbest rule in the game.

    There was something about that play which looked very strange. If the whistle blew, you can't continue the play. The way this new rule is enforced is without a whistle. They let the play play out, and then give the ruling. I never quite understood what happened.

    No. With the new rule the whistle does not stop the play (how dumb is that). If the opposing team recovers the ball, they would get possession.
