I agree. he casn not will a team to victory. he is a weak armed QB who makes bad decisions when he is rattled. Against great and very good defenses, he is merely average and usually a loser! He beats tomatoe cans and his fans go nuts getting him ready for induction into the HALL of FAME!
Talk about overreacting. The Bears have bar none the best defense in the NFL. It's hard to win without having much of a run game, which we don't have much of a run game. He threw a pretty bad couple of picks. First pick was in the red zone. Only his second career pick in the red zone by the way. Second one was just him trying to make something happen. Jeez, Peyton Manning had two picks today too against Dallas. Bench him now....
Sure, which is why the Jets were running at will early in the game and moving the ball very well until the Bears realized that they just had to sit back and let Pennington launch the ball all over the field since he couldn't even hit wide open WRs. And what do you know, that worked for them.
A good running game can win games for you. Not counting Dwight's reverse we had 80 yards rushing. 80 yards! What an amazing run game huh? I'm sure the Bears were shaking from in their boots about our run game. Why didn't we keep running it if it was so successful? Putting this game squarely on Pennington is rediculous. He deserves most of the blame but not all. In order to win the game we needed to keep the ball and force turnovers. He didn't do a great job of keeping the ball but we were'nt forcing turnovers either.
Uh, did you read my post? The Jets had 70+ rushing yards in the first quarter before the Bears adjusted and started selling out to the run on most plays. The passing game was then left open and Pennington couldn't make the throws.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you watched the game on TV and since most of Chad's passes were so woefully off target the open WR wasn't even in the frame of where the pass fell to the ground.
Alright. Even if he did not find his open receivers today he's going to have a field day with Houston.
That bear D makes alot of D's look bad. Chad wasn't good yesterday but curious playcalling helped him look bad as well.
Interesting coment by the annoucers yesterday about the play calling. They were heeping praise on the Offensive tempo the Jets had in the first half and they pointed out that Chad has the go ahead to change any call to any call in the playbook at the line of scrimage. He is effectively calling the plays so if you think the playcalling was curious, Chad is the guy making them.
based on that theory p. Manning shoul dhave hit the pines a long time ago -- can't win a playoff game, can't beat the pats when it counts, couldn't beat chad in the playoffs, and choked in dallas yesterday
OvreAll in the 1st half we moved the ball pretty well and Chad changes some plays and he deserves blame if he makes the wrong decision but to run on 1st and 2nd down w/ 1st and G from the Chi 10 was a mistake. It set up a 3rd and G from the 5, a situation where we have to pass and w/ little room down there it's a tough place to score from. We may have had an incomplete or 2 if we threw on 1st and/or 2nd down but at least we would have taken shots. In the 2nd half I don't know what they were doing. I thought Chad played poorly yesterday but the coaches let us down as well. The sequence inside the Chi 10, the foolish OS Kick, punting down 10 w/ under 7 mins to play from Chi's side of the field.
If you watched the game he never went into a rotation on the 1st INT instead just looked down his prime receiver making a easy INT for Urlacher. The replay shows how open Coles was in the EZ & if Penny had 1st looked to his left before throwing the ball we would have a TD instead of the Bears having a INT. He made a typical rookie mistake insted of being the supposed brainy QB he is supposed to be
Chad will never take this team to the promised land. He is a mediocre QB at best, and is exposed by teams who force the team to throw (Chicago) and no longer rely upon the run. I don't care about what the guy has done in 2004, 2003- it's the past. He has not shown consistency this year. He's still predictable in some of his throws, and cannot get the ball downfield more than twice a game- anyone catch Brees and his 514 yards yesterday? I recognize that it was a ton of yards but my point is that Pennington will NEVER be at that point. If this team has any drive to get past the first round of the playoffs, it will be with a QB not named Pennington at the helm...
You are forgetting that the man basically hadn't played in 2 years prior to this season. Chad is a top 10 QB but he has clearly hit the wall this year as he has not looked good for the most part over the past month. He is a QB good enough to get to a SB but he needs more talent around him. W/o a healthy Chad this team has maybe 2-3 wins. Chad's return is the biggest reason why we have been competitive.
From today Daily News But Pennington admitted the Jets have been "ineffective in the passing game," and that his mojo with the receivers has gone AWOL. That was apparent on the Urlacher interception, a third-down play from the Bears' 5. Pennington looked for tight end Chris Baker the entire way, not seeing a wide-open Coles on the opposite side of the end zone.
I agree with the part about Brees and his ABILITY to throw for a 500 plus yard game... Don't get me wrong I am NOT expecting Chad to throw for 500 yards a week, but the fact of the matter is Chad cant do it. I have always felt that a franchise QB is one that can win a game in a shootout. Chad cannot win against top 5 defenses nor can he win a game in a shootout. I love him and he will probably do well next week, but I think after this year it should be Kellen's time.
brees did have 514 yards -- also had 3 picks in the endzone and lost i'll take 130 yards and a win over 514 yards and a loss
See, that's where I take a little issue. Suppose Chad had a PREMIER RB behind him, someone like a LD, Ronnie Brown, or whoever else you see fit. A team like Chicago would stack the box and effectively shut down the run (I don't care how good of a RB you are, if there are enough guys in your face you aren't going to put up big numbers), forcing Chad to throw more often. When Chad throws downfield I cringe, almost wanting to look away from the TV. Chad throwing more downfield = bad, bad things. I didn't notice it so much in this game but v NE he was throwing downfield and his signature "ducks." I'll be surprised if him AND Nugent are around next year....
