I think it's way too early to make a verdict on any of our young guys. With that said, you can make some general observations to get an idea of what these kids can turn into based on a few of the things that we have already seen. For example, we can already observe that Maye is going to make some big plays from the safety position. His controlled, but aggressive play will undoubtedly give him chances to make some interceptions and be a tempo changer on defense. I do like how Adams seems to be a natural communicator, constantly mediating between coaches and teammates, we need a guy like him to develop on defense. That was Harris for us, to a lesser extent. Adams needs to clean up some some of the technical aspects, but he has the brain, physical makeup and leadership ability to be what scouts predicted.
I don't even know how to respond to this thread. Can we let a rookie play an NFL game before we cut him or send him to Canton?
I was against the Adams pick from the start. That being said can't really put too much stock into a preseason game.
It's a preseason game, I can't stress how little this means to his future. Having said that, he was bad last night Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Bingo. Even if he busts it was the right pick. He was far and away the best player on the board. This is why I generally stay away from the Jets section of this board during the preseason. Some of these threads and prejudgements are unbearable to read. Because someone comes from money that means they're not hungry? Why would he even go into the NFL if he comes from money in that case?
Also. You're so good at judging talent you can't even remember a guys name that has played for us in the past 5-6 years? Kyle Wilson? Cmon bro.
So which assessment do you stand by, the one where "Adams is soft" and "comes from money so may not be trying"? Or the one where "Adams is one of the picks i definitely wanted, his grade is an A+"?
Adams will he fine. He has a knack for where the football is going to be. Plus hes much more of a communicator and getting the defense into position then Gilchrist or hell, Pryor. I like how versatile Adams and Maye are..,both can play both safety positions and play in the box as a hybrid or cover WR'S...love them both.
It wouldn't shock me if both Maye and Adams develop into Pro Bowl players with, surprisingly, Maye, being the better of the two.
I don't know why this thread is still about Adams. He is being discussed in multiple other threads. This should now be about fansince90 badly over or under estimating players. Here is a thread he started where he overestimated the entire team. It was started just before last season. Jets are 1-3 years away from a Superbowl.
Adams is recovering from the twisted ankle. Not surprised to see him on 3/4 speed for an exhibition game.
Just short. You will be issued a helmet upon boarding. Please wipe your drool off the window before departing.
