Some of you are going to give me a hard time for creating a thread on this, but this is insane. Am I the only one who thinks that we are the most consistently banged up roster in the NFL from year to year? Between the early bumps and bruises that we seem to get early on year after year and mid-season injuries (ex. Harris, Decker, Devin Smith, secondary). Accompany this with the fact that our team seems gassed late in games and against faster offense, it seems as though our training staff is to blame. Justin Galac doesn't have a great background if you look, not too much experience to make note of. You see teams like the Raiders that seemingly stayed healthy all of last year, with the exception of the late Carr injury. Again, most of you might give me a hard time for this post, but I almost expect injuries lately with us. Early and often.
enunwa has a spine injury and you make this thread? the only reason you think this way is because you pay attention to this team, every team has bumps and bruises. we are actually pretty healthy. it's not like we have 15 guys nursing muscle pulls. plus adams is back after 4 days from a sprained ankle. thats pretty good. there are legitimate things about this team to bitch about, this isn't one of them
Sorry, but you're flat out wrong. The Jets have had fewer injuries than most teams over the last several years. I think it was Kelvin Beachum, but if not, it was a FA who signed with the Jets recently (this year or last) and raved about the Jets' training staff and said that was one of main reasons he signed with the Jets.
I understand that you have to have perspective with this, but all I'm trying to say is that there have been some players that don't have injury history that have came here and have some consistent issues. Devin Smith and Decker were two of the guys just off the top of my head. My point is not that we are the leagues worst in this area, but I have noticed a lot of injuries the last few seasons that have came up.
Bringing up Decker shows how clueless you are. His rotator cuff injury and his hip surgery has nothing to do with the training staff. And what did they do to Devin Smith, sneak in while he was sleeping and cut half way through his ACL? There are plenty of things to complain about on this team without having to make things up.
With all due respect, I played baseball and had a strength and conditioning coach. Their job is to help prepare athletes bodies for the rigors of the sport they are playing. Your making it seem like I am blaming the training staff for specific occurrences when I clearly explained that our guys don't seem to be prepared well enough for the rigors of the season/camp. I have seen others point out on the game forums before how the team seems gassed late into games as well, I don't understand how this seems like I'm just trying to make something up?
I was about to post the same thing. Actually both Forte and Beachum said one of the reasons they choose the Jets was because of the training staff. You would think with a user name like FrontOfficeFanatic the OP would know the difference between the training staff and the strength and conditioning coaches but I seem to remember him asking basic questions about the FO and someone questioning his choice of username.
Look around the league and see the attrition rate. Every team piles up injuries in camp and the last CBA is responsible for many of them. Less time to prepare equates to more injuries. Players are forced into excellerated action and more injuries are happening league wide. Smith had a serious knee injury, reinjured the knee , football is a rough sport, an unstable knee can go at anytime ( see Ryan Tannehill) Decker's groin injury was an old injury that he had been playing with for a long time but since he was having shoulder surgery it was decided to repair it as he would be out anyway. You should be aware of the difference between strength and conditioning coaches and trainers but you seem to be blaming the training staff for the conditioning coaches. One of the biggest thing you are missing I'd the lack of discipline that surrounded the team, guys were coming into camp way out of shape. Reports are things are different this off season. The D was gassed due to all the turnovers and constantly being on the field. The Jets did hire one of the most respected strength and conditioning coaches in the off season .Joe Giacobbe, from Rutgers. I don't think people feel like you are making things up, but your way off in your statements. As I suggested, look at every teams injuries and you will see why. For example you claim the raiders only had one injury ( to Carr late in the year)when they had 9 other players that went on the IR , and 7 players who were ruled out of multiple games. Far from only one injury that you claim. Here's a link if you want to varify the Raiders injuries in 15. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/rai/2015_injuries.htm
You pointed out Devin Smith and Decker, blaming the training staff for an ACL tear and a rotator cuff tear is like blaming a doctor for a smoker getting cancer. I actually checked a few rankings done to see which teams were most effected by injury last season and the Jets were 14th or 15th dependent upon which ranking you check. Some ranking just did games lost to injury and others weighted the ranking by injury impact to team. Did you bother doing any research before starting a thread on it?
You're spot on with both of these things. The new CBA is the biggest thing, I believe. Teams can no longer do 2-a-days and aren't allowed many pads practices. That doesn't get players in "football" shape, and I think one can easily see that the number of injuries has escalated since the new CBA went into effect..
