This will be a new era, not just in Jets history, not just in NFL history, not just in American sports history, but all of sports history. That's how good Hackenberg will be. #wishfulthinking

Moron Evan Roberts says he's not the answer and Benigno jumped down his throat, and said how do you know! Please let the guy throw a pass first....what a jackass!

We can only hope so, it would save us a year and let us get right along with building a team to compliment him :)

Watching Hackenberg at Penn State, I thought he was a sure fire #1 Overall Pick and future great QB in the NFL. Then of course the team started to suck when O'Brien left and Hackenberg's play suffered mostly due to O-line and Coaching. He slipped to the 2nd Round. Then he was red shirted as a Jet his rookie year and we haven't heard too much positive or negative about him since. He obviously has a uphill battle with this roster, but I think if given a fair shot, he should be able to outplay McCown in camp. Time will tell.

I'd sign up for an above average starter at this point....

    Come on, man! Everybody knows!!!!

Some know he's going to be a failure.
Some know he's going to be great.
    But everybody knows!

Hopefully Jeremy Bates is this super guru everyone is making him out to be. If Hackenberg can stop air mailing simple throws he's easily our best option (and the only one that makes the season somewhat interesting).

I don't think the rebuild can start until you have your QB...if he's not it, it's groundhog day for another season.

    LETS GO HACK BABY!

Never understood fans who want him to fail- give a player on a team you root for confidence by rooting for him.

No one WANTS him to fail. They just don't see any evidence that he will do well.

I'm curious...why is that? Yes, the QB is the most important player, but if the QB has no talent around him, then he's gonna suck and struggle. The Jets have started the rebuild...they've gotten rid of the older WRs and added several talented young WRs. They've gotten rid of the old safeties and have two very talented young safeties. They've moved on from older LBs and are trying to find quality young LBs to replace them. They moved on from old CBs and have some young CBs with promise. They finally have some young TEs who can actually catch the ball and have promise.

They've moved on from selfish, egotistical players who only cared about themselves and their stats, and are developing a team attitude.

I don't see how you can say that the rebuild hasn't begun.

    This stuff.

Also, in an ideal world you'd build a talented young Offensive line for a year or two before you throw your young QB in behind it. That way they're already competent and working together. You can go hire a bunch of vets, of course, but then your line falls apart right when your QB should be hitting his stride in years 3-5.

Are you sure about that, I know a couple on here are just waiting with bated breath to tell us he failed when he finally gets his chance of course.

Of course on your rationale where is the evidence he will fail, serious evidence mind, not just the usual made up shit.

To be clear...i don't want him to fail. I'm even mildly optimistic. I just feel without a legit QB1 you end up as the browns. Plenty of talent on both sides of the ball but meh results. I'm totally happy to be wrong though.

My biggest concern with the oline is Wesley Johnson, even though he has played alongside Winters and Carpenter, the center position is the key that makes everything else go well.

I believe as Long as Beachum stays healthy, he and Carpenter will be ok holding down the left side. Winters has supposedly made huge strides hence his new contract. I'm hoping he and Shell or Ijalana can hold down the right side.

Johnson is the unknown, throw in a new offensive scheme, it will be 6 games before you see any true chemistry from this line.
