Such a great move...We have $22 million in cap space and 7th overall that we can use to draft or trade for one of these kids in Colorado.

Lets make magic happen Gorton. Get at it. Critical off season for the direction of this club

HFBoards is going berserk because DeAngelo is a big Trump supporter and calls his teammates homos during games. He has the potential to whip up a really bad situation playing in NYC so hopefully this kid wises up

In one day, the New York Rangers traded Derek Stepan, and then drafted two centers. Do you have any idea how giddy I was?

If he does, I guarantee you he will not be the one winning the faceoff on the play.

Alot of people bashing the Rangers top 2 draft picks as reaches and not OMG amazing players.

I like Lias alot, he is in the same mold as most of our young players...Not sure if he can be elite but he has alot of potential. Also, people wanted that goofy looking kid Mittlestadt.

I am sure most of us are still recovering from Jessiman to the Rangers ( A guy who dominated high schoolers only). I imagine it would be a tough choice if Cody Glass was not taken by the Golden Knights

there were no sure OMG players in this draft. You don't just find an Ovechkin or Malkin each year let alone at #7 or #21

But I trust Gorton exponentially more than Sather at identifying potential NHL talent. He's the one that found Tukka Rask

Now they have the cap space to sign Shattenkirk and re-sign Smith.

    McDonagh-Shattenkirk
    Skjei-Smith
    Holden/Staal-DeAngelo

That's an elite, Cup quality defense. They'd go from bottom 5 defense to top 5 in one off-season. Shatty's going to cost a fortune, but they're not going to just save all this cap room they have. Rather they sign one great player to a long term deal at $7M per than a couple mediocre guys for $3-4M per. There's going to be a compliance buyout after the next lockout in a few years, anyway. If Zibanejad takes the next step and becomes a legit #1C, with this defense, that's a far better team than this past year.

Dallas Stars acquire defenseman Marc Methot from the Vegas Golden Knights for goalie Dylan Ferguson and a 2020 second-round pick
Should have made LVK an offer for him

Holden is terrible. I think people have unfairly pegged Staal as a bust. Meanwhile, the poor guy has had to play both defensive positions at once because he is paired with such a terrible partner.
