All because of a handful of players (in which you can literally count on one hand) who've gotten in trouble ala Sheldon, Robby, Mauldin and Lee? That's pretty funny. As if any other head coach would've been able to lock these kids inside of a box or a college dorm room? Pretty laughable. And please don't bring up veterans like Mo being late to practice or a career headcase in Brandon Marshall. Because I'll laugh at you if you do. Let me guess. Coach Bill Belichick also "lacks discipline" and was "responsible" for that of Aaron Hernandez? Get the fk outta here with your judgemental bullshit already. So Bowles "lacks discipline" due to the likes of Sheldon, Robby, Lee, Mauldin, and/or Brandon and Mo? O.k. What about players on his current roster who've yet to get introuble under coach Bowles such as... McCown. Petty. Hackenberg. Forte. Powell. McGuire. Romar. Howsare. Enunwa. Hansen. Peake. Stewart. Leggett. ASJ. Carpenter. Winters. Dozier. Johnson. Shell. Qvale. Harrison. Beachum. Leo. Thomas. Simon. Pelon. McLendon. Jenkins. Davis. Martin. Bishop. Stanford. Carter. Skrine. Burris. Williams. Clark. McDougle. Roberts. Jones. Claiborne. Adams. Martin. Miles. Middelton. Maye. Lachlan. Chandler. Ross. Etc. Just to name a few. What about former Jets such as... Mangold. Ferguson. Revis. Fitzpatrick. Decker. Harris. Pryor. Damon. Gilchrist. Amaro. Ivory. Folk. Wait. Hold on. Let me think about that for a second. No mention of those 61 players listed above who've never been introuble under Bowles (countless of others too) when talking about his "discipline" when mentioning a handful of players in Sheldon, Robby, Lee and Mauldin? Wouldn't fit the shark type of blood in the waters agenda, huh? Hypocritical to say the least. Or more importantly when talking "discipline" what about his children that he's molden and raised as a man? How many arrests? "Lacks discipline". Go & blame their mommy and daddy for "lack of discipline".
So don't bring up instances of all those players misbehaving on the field, in the locker room, off the field? Got it. Bowles has no control over his players, nor does he hold them responsible.
I always find it amusing when people are so awe-struck that young guys most of whom come from meager beginnings all of a sudden land fame, millions of dollars, then are transplanted into the second largest city in the world get into trouble. There's a reason Colts or Packers players never get into trouble, there's nothing to do there! It's NYC. Some people can't handle it, there's only so much a coaching staff can do to prepare and mentor their players. At the end of the day you're talking about grown men making their own individual choices. I do believe these poor decisions can be mitigated from the inside through team leadership. For this to work there has to be a culture in place to support it. I believe, or at least am optimistic that these are the changes that the staff are trying to put in place now.
It's a statistical improbability. tampabayjetsfan and phillystackz could get some long lists going also, coincidence?
Now I defended Mauldin in the other thread since he has not yet been charged and it looks like a possible money grab but this thread is moronic. No, a head coach can not always control what all his players do but when you start leading the league in arrests then there is a problem. In the last 5 years that is where they are, #1 with 12 arrests. Sure when you list out every fringe player on the roster it may look like the last 4 arrests don't amount to much but when you compare it to most other teams it is. Trying to explain it away as them being young is a bullshit excuse, bringing up how players who have been on the roster all of a few weeks but haven't been arrested is even more ridiculous. I don't know what to say about this.
Rex Ryan lacks discipline. Todd Bowles lacks charisma, so Jets fans aren't going to like him unless/until he wins. Until then, he will lack any possible positive trait and possess all possible negative traits.
Todd Bowles doesn't lack discipline per say, but he does have issues with being a HC. He has displayed that he is lost in terms of in game adjustments, sucks at time out usage, sucks at challenges, and also fails to hold people accountable for their actions. So no, its not so much lacking discipline, he just needs to become better at being the leader of men.
....starting qb missing meeting and claiming west coast time difference as an excuse.....starting qb getting his lights punched out.... now what was that about aaronherndez, a TE? great thread.
Todd Bowles is a shitty head coach and was a terrible hire. Just another tale of woe for this franchise. The sooner he is gone the better, why waste time?
