This guy better be good at football. Otherwise, the only thing he's good at is looking like a creeper.
He definitely will be a backup. He's been a backup with the Fins and the Giants. He's a bundle short of what Harris brought to the game. What ever.
He may actually be a decent signing. Here's his career stats from NFL.com: http://www.nfl.com/player/spencerpaysinger/2530855/profile Last season he played in 15 games, starting only 3, but he had 58 combined tackles and had 3 PDefs. So it sounds like he has at least some skills in pass coverage. He played STs for both the Dolphins and Giants, but I was unable to find any stats as to how many tackles he may have made.
Based on that picture I'll expect him to be Darron Lee's wingman up in the club Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
My co-worker who is a Giants fan said he liked him a lot. For a backup, he's pretty solid and a good contributor on special teams.
The Jets are also in talks with Erik Walden so it seems that they are still looking for LBs. He had 11 sacks last season but at 31 does he fit the youth movement. I'm guessing they may want to shed Davis and his cap hit making the Pryor trade even more attractive.
Man,Spencer was such a bad ass at UO. He wasn't Kiko Alonzo but he was a damn good player. And it was a mistake to think their linebacker coach Don Pellum could be the DC after Chip Kelly left. i don't know what's worse that or having to watch Kiko knock guys silly in Miami.
Another stat for Spencer Paysinger that I don't think anyone on the jets can claim...yet. he has a Superbowl ring (2011 Giants).
I like the signing. Being in a family with Giants fans, ugh, I've had to watch a game or two. The guy has a good motor, gets to the ball and makes the tackle. He reminded me a little bit of one of my Jets faves from the past, Chad Cascadden.
