Jets Fans:Your Memories of Vernon Gholston

How do you not get at least ONE sack in the NFL. You can stumble and get at least a half of a sack.

 

Not all of them.

 

Great pic. Loved him coming out and was thrilled when we nabbed him. He was a beast when he was younger

 

my first look at VG was in the Sugar Bowl when he was a virtual no show. knew he was a bust from day one.

I actually bought an official Vernon Ghoulston jersey .. *sigh* yes I know and yes I know and yes I know. /self-slap

-edit and three years ago After cleaning out my closet .. I seriously couldn't even give it away!

 

Watched Ohio State vs Penn State 4 years he was there and never even knew his name, never made a tackle that I saw

 

But we have only had 2 successes in almost 60 years of history. Matt Snell was the other one.

As of March 31 of last year, he reportedly has been trying to come back into the NFL. He had a tryout the year before with the redskins but that didn't pan out so it's safe to say.... He done

I think Robertson and Sanchez were far bigger busts than VG due to what we spenr on drafting them

 

Sanchez had at least SOME success, whereas Gholston and Robertson sucked balls from the get-go

 

Robertson put together a few good years as a 3t in herms "cover who?"
Degenerative bone on bone condition is really the worst part about giving up 2 1sts for him.

 

The memory that if he turned out to be even half of the pass rusher he was touted to be , we probably would have made it to the Super Bowl instead of falling short in back to back afc championships

 

Well then you must've not been paying close attention back then mr17.

Gholston only played against PSU two times. And during Gholston's two games against Penn State the kid combined for 8 tackles and 2.0 sacks.

Look. I understand he's one of the biggest busts of Jets Franchise history. Never even recorded a single NFL sack.

But let's not act as if he didn't impact for Ohio State on an NCAA level while putting up and recording 86 tackles (30.5 were behind the L.O.S for loss of yards) and 22.5 sacks after only two years of playing time.

I'm an FSU fan of the ACC and even i knew who Vernon Gholston was. I'm not really sure how you could be a Penn State fan, but yet; didn't even know his name...

 

Never heard of him, never heard his name called because he did nothing, 3 solo tackles big fucking deal in 2 games
