In this scenario, the Jets will go winless. Not the end of the world just saw a story on the 8 QB's coming out next year. The Jets will have their pick.

I actually think we mite win a few games. I'm not as down on Hack as many are because quite honestly we didn't see much of him to make a fair conclusion. We can speculate all we want based on his limited preseason time, but this is when we really find out what he is, if he's improved, and can he be the QB of the future.

We may very well suck, but we also may very well find the QB of the future. I'm not subscribing to either idea, but I appreciate the approach taken by the Jets. Find out what you have, if good then great, if we suck then we get a high pick in the 2018 draft which has quite a few legit QB prospects.

You have some great optimism but I'm a long time Jets fan and will think the worst until they show something. If hack had anything at all he would have seen the field last year. Every other QB we had got hurt at one time or another last year and he still didn't see the field. I'm not buying this hold the clipboard thing either. Plus you had a Jets coach come out and say the guy couldn't hit the ocean. I think Hack has issues from his bad play at Penn State. If his psyche is messed up there is no curing that. Football is the last thing he needs to be doing.

He wasn't ready to play last year. That much is obvious. I think when they drafted him the plan was to make sure he didn't see the field till at least his sophmore season. This summer will show a lot. I look at it this way, if we suck that badly and no QB on the roster is the answer, we are in prime position to select a good one in 2018.

see, I agree with this. It's such a simple, elegant solution to our QB problem. Either we already have a franchise QB in Hack, or we take the pick of the litter next year. Either way, 2018 and beyond we'll have a really good QB.

There was no reason to muck that simple plan up by taking another project QB this year.

I've been watching a few coaches film tapes myself and our safety play was awful especially in coverage. Rontez Miles and Calvin Pryor...smh.

Precisely. You see what you have on your roster, if neither Hack or Petty are the answer you can simply say you gave it a shot but it didnt' work out. Drafting a QB high in 2017 would have painted Macc as delusional and would not be fair to either Petty or Hack.

If you have an open competition for starter this season, you evaluate, you see what improved, how that improvement translates to the future, and if doesn't and we suck, we will be primed to take a QB high.

This season is not about wins....its about evaluating young players.

You say this as if they're all sure things. So which one is the Marino in the group?

Actually 3 Marino's in the 2018 draft. That's if they all come out. Darnold, Allen, and Jackson. Which do we take? Decisions, decisions, decisions. Its time to move on from Hackenberg. Time for the Jets to get it right. They blew it with Marino and he made sure they knew about it twice a year for almost 20 years.

Possibly but in journalism, a lot of "sources" don't want to go on record. Things like losing your job for making comments weigh heavily with people. Just look at Deep Throat from the Watergate scandal and how long he stayed hidden.

That seems like a waste of 2 years possibly 3. I don't think he will ready this year either with Morton taking over from Gailey. We know Hack does not like changes. The best thing to do with Hack is to trade him to the Texans. Bill O'Brien is the only guy that got anything out of him, he's obviously comfortable with him and the offense is the same that he ran and was successful with at Penn State.

It's not that Hack doesn't like change...the change he exhibited in college was drastic. Bill O'Brien was essentially running a pro style system that was very similar to that of the Patriots offense. Hack was making the same checks at the line as Tom Brady. When he left and James Franklin came in, not only did they want him to change his foot work (big no no), but the offense was different as well because it was not like a pro-style system.

The point of sitting Hack for a year was so he can get away from all the change, and settling down a bit. This off season, I think Hack needs to show better foot work and better accuracy. The arm talent is there, the smarts are there, what's lacking is the fundamentals. Training camp and preseason games will be telling.

We don't know anything yet at this point. Hack is changing again like I said from Gailey to Morton. 2 years and two systems. Hopefully he will look better in Morton's cause he looked awful in Gailey system. So bad that they overpaid Fitzpatrick, benched Geno, played Petty and all the above got injured at some point and Hack still never saw the field. Its time to kick off the training wheel and play this guy. Let's see if he can play at this level or permanent clipboard duty is his future.

Three sure things? Three Marinos? Not buying it, you can't pick three; you can't even pick two. That's the fallacy in the
"tank" philosophy. If you get the number one pick you still need to pick the guy who's guaranteed to be the Ace then guarantee he's everything you thought he was and doesn't get hurt.

Any of the "tank" bunch up to a challenge?

Pick the guy right now. Tell us whether you want to give him a red shirt season and we'll look again when his first playing season is done wherever that turns out to be. You'll have bragging rights for as long as he's in the league. We'll even let you change your pick right up until the draft. It's not as simple as so many guys make it sound.

When there is a consensus, or at least a majority opinion, if that guy just gets his team in the playoffs three times in his first six years, I'll change my avatar to this...

for as long as he's in the league.

There does appear to be at least 2 if not 3, really good QB prospects coming out next year. Now there are at least 4-5 teams still looking for their savior so its not quite a 1 to 1, but the supply demand is likely not to be so out of whack.

We have waited so long for that guy, sanchez was thrust on us and was protected those first 2 years, pennington tickled us for a short time, despite herm, vinny almost got us there only to be let down by the surrounding cast, boomer was a wash while hess had no clue, obrien gave us some very good play but lets face it, he was toast when the jets starting not protecting him after 86. Todd was god for a couple years under michaels but injuries, interceptions, and mud kept us from the dance.

Hate to say it but if the jets in 5 games next year they will put themselves at a yuge disadvantage in getting their guy. Quite the irony and conundrum of a football franchise.

Are you talking about Lamar Jackson from Louisville? If so, he has a long way to go before he should be considered a top QB prospect in my opinion.

The only thing that could sabotage all this is if Hack turns out to be an average, 8-8 QB (like so many others). That would dome us to another 15 years of purgatory.

    *doom lol
