Got to give them a lot of credit for not listening to the media here.

Yes, they could have traded up and gotten both, but they obviously didn't feel Garrett was worth trading up for in a draft with a lot of good defensive players.

It looks like 1, 2, and 4 will be Trubisky, Garrett and 4nette. Who will the bears and Titans pick?

Ideally they pick Thomas and Allen leaving the Jets with their DB choice.

Terrible pick if they make it. Garrett is an absolute stud and has insane potential. Trubisky is "safe" and yet not, both owing to his limited experience.

The 49ers should be doing backflips if Cleveland takes Trubinsky.

The Browns GM says they've known who the pick was going to be for 2 weeks now. That sounds like Garret.

it's possible they take trub at 1 as there are so many rumors of trades avail in top 10. they risk being shut out and the ownership and fans there may be getting impatient on qb situation.

Too many rumours they are looking to trade back into the first round and thats definitely for Trubisky. The Browns are shit but not that shit to pass on a blue chip prospect for a 1 year wonder from NC.

I can't see any way that taking Trubisky instead of Garrett is anything short of stupid.

If they pass on Garrett he will be snapped up by SF and they'll have no shot of trading back up from 12 to get him, OTH, if they take Garrett 1st, they would have a pretty good shot of still getting Trubisky. If they do this, they will "live up to" their reputation as the worst franchise in the NFL.

if they take Mitch T at 1 the Browns would throw a monkey wrench into every teams plans

SF will scoop MGarrett up and other dominoes will fall ...we will have to see

Question is does that hurt the Jets at 6? I say probably not because some other team that's reaching for a QB might trade with us now that one is gone

The Browns might be crazy enough to trade and stay in the top 10

The Browns have two pretty good young edge players in Nassib and Ogbah. If they want to go that route they could grab Barnett at 12 who was just as good as Garrett in college against the same competition. There is also the possibility that a guy like Hooker or Howard drop into their laps with the 12th pick.

The Browns don't need Garrett. They need a QB of the future to use their plethora of draft picks to support him.

There are 32 teams in the NFL that need Garrett.

I can't wrap my mind around the absurdity of Mitch Trubisky being taken first overall in any draft ever

This guy is not even guaranteed to win a starting job...EVER. I mean yea, he looks like a decent QB prospect, but his upside isn't especially great (Andy Dalton) and there are just too many unknowns with him. Nothing in the film either makes you marvel either. It's just...ok/pretty good.

There are a lot of Alex Smith comparisons out there for Trubisky and Smith went #1 in a similarly unimpressive QB draft. Davis Webb would be the Aaron Rodgers comp in that scenario, even coming from the same offense (Cal) that Rodgers starred in for one season.

I would be really annoyed if the Jets drafted Davis Webb, particularly if they have the opportunity to grab Mahomes at some point.

Everyone talks about how "silly" Mahomes #s from Texas Tech are because of the air raid, but why not compare them to Webb who actually played in the exact same system, on the same team, under the same coach, before losing his job to Mahomes?

    At Texas Tech:

    Mahomes: 32g, 857 / 1349 (63.5%), 11252 yds (351.6/g), 93 tds (2.9/g), 29 int (0.9/g)
    Webb: 23g, 459 / 747 (61.4%), 5557 yds (241.6/g), 46 tds (2/g), 22 int (0.96/g)

If there was ever an opportunity to make a direct comparison, this is it. Webb at the top of round 2 would be travesty compared to getting Mahomes in the first. One of the few picks I'd genuinely hate.

They don't need a potential HOF pass rusher? Dude, you need to stop with your comments about talent and players. You couldn't be more wrong.

The problem is I think that it is the owner and the GM who supposedly favor Trubinsky, while the CS wants Garrett. If so, you probably aren't going to be able to get the GM fired, and you certainly can't fire the owner.

In every single one of these hindsight "re-drafts" that networks do, they wind up putting any QB that has turned out to be decent at #1 overall. If the Browns think Trubisky can be a long term starter I think he's worth taking over anyone. But can you really make that determination after 13 starts?

QBs are interesting because a half-decent QB is worth more than an elite player at any other position. For example, if you took Von Miller off the Broncos but replaced Trevor Siemian with Matthew Stafford, the Broncos would probably have been better. But if you draft a QB who only turns out to be half-decent, you can't get an elite QB because you're stuck with the half-decent one.
