So again I ask what point are you trying to make? Going 34-4 or whatever his record was has no barring on NFL success.
Exactly, it is good to have coaching that can help a player prepare. Brees, I don't even think he had a great record. Heck he didn't even play in a bowl game I think.
Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Russell Wilson Andrew Luck, Matt Ryan, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, Mathew Stafford, Carson Palmer, and Ryan Tannehill don't fit your small college narrative. These are not colleges like Joe Flacco went to.
Vince Young, winner in college, NOT A WINNER in the NFL. Dude is 33 and not in the league. So again, I ask what is your point?
Actually Vince Young did go 30-17 As a starter with the Titans. I don't believe he's comparable to Watson on and off the field. He's more Jamarcus Russell than Deshaun Watson.
Most of them were not on contending teams loaded with nfl offensive talent. Lesser may have been a bad choice of words but i thought the overall point was clear.
One thing I think most can agree on is the Jets are likely to draft a quarterback at 6, either Trubisky or Watson.
I hope Mac passes. This isn't the year, these aren't the prospects to grab that high and we don't really need a development guy in the latter rounds either. I wouldn't be able to take either player over Hooker, Lattimore, Adams, Reuben Foster, Fournette and probably not even OJ Howard. Trade down it's another story but then we probably don't get our choice of QB and miss out on the elite prospects I listed.
Sure sounded like you speaking of schools like Joe Flacco (Delaware), and Carson Wentz (North Dakota State) went to, but I'll allow you to move the goal post to help your argument. Lol
Where is Vince Young now? Where are the playoff wins etc? With hindsight, I doubt you take Young over Brick. His immaturity issues got him black balled. Do you see my point? None of these players were successful in the pros. Young 33 and out of the league! His prime years he wasn't even on a roster.
If the jets had the choice I would hope they would run to the podium with Garretts name. No way the Browns fk this up. Garrett is a beast. The difference between him and Gohlston is that Garrett is a football player.
Because you took lesser to mean div 2 i am moving the goal posts? Ok. Also why would anyone consider carson wentz successful?
While I believe it's a smoke screen....their may also be some truth that they are undecided. Let's face it...Garrett maybe a premium prospect..but he is not a sure thing at a position w. a high bust rate. Browns play a 3-4 base...can he set the edge like a 1st overall pick should? He has the tools...but not a definite.Additionally...does he change the negatives tides of that franchise in a largely scoring league in a division w. some very good QB's & OL? Not a definite. Trubisky is a home town kid at a devoid position...if they hit on him...whether he is as good as Garret or not...he could be better for the franchise in terms of turning things around. Do I think he';s the guy to go into Cleveland shoulder all that frustration & negativity and come out on the other side as their long term answer? I have strong reservations..but Hugh Jackson knows QBs..and many around this league appear sold on this kid no matter what us outsiders believe..It's kind of funny..but he has some similar traits to that of Tim Couch..similar size..movement...pocket presence.. Sure conventional wisdom is they wait to take their QB at pick 12 where the value makes alittle more sense..but the Browns have been here before...and both times they waited till their later 1st round pick & both times came away w. the wrong guy. Additionally...who's to say the Jets don't start a run on QBs at #6 either w. a pick of their own or by trading down? Could be Trubisky/Kizer/Watson/Mahomes one after the other...then what do the Browns do? Come crawling back to the Patriots for Jimmy G? Wait till 2018? Not as easy of a decision as it may seem.
I seriously cant imagine them passing on garrett. I think theyll take him and trade back up to 5 for trubisky.
If they want Trubisky they can get him from the Jets at 6. The Titans will have a player they actually want to take at 5 so the price will be steeper. 12 + 33 = Trubisky. It even rhymes.
The Browns are trying to scare the Jets into thinking that they'll take Trubisky at 1 and he won't be available at 6. The Jets are trying to bluff the Browns into thinking that they'll take Trubisky at 6 so he won't be available at 12. This is like a poker game being played between Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne from Dumb and Dumber. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I think this depends on if Cleveland has their hearts set on Trubisky (or one of the other ones), or if they'd be happy with any of them. If they really want Trubisky, they just might take him at 1, but if they don't care, they can take Garrett at 1, and grab one of the other ones at 12. They could also increase their odds of getting "their" guy by trading with the Jets for the 6, and still take Garrett at 1. If they somehow pass over Garrett, he still won't fall to 6 probably, but maybe Solomon Thomas does, and an elite pass rusher is the one guy I would consider over Mahomes/Watson/Fournette/Howard.
