This is why Bowles should've been fired. And please don't say, "Well it's the OC's job to call the plays", because it's the HC's job to make sure what the OC calls work, and tell him to make adjustments if they don't. For the life of me I can't fathom how you take away one of your offensive weapons. It's like you're purposely making the other team's job of defending EASIER! Honestly, I wondered if maybe Gailey was suffering form early onset dementia. AS for Bowles, I think it's just early onset cluelessness.
One less weapon team didn't have to prepare for. The Jets made it easy for teams to defense them. Having even a competent TE would have open up the offense.
As I said, it seems inconceivable that a team would essentially leave out an offensive option. That's one of the most obvious reasons that Bowles needs to go.
Here's hoping that this year we will have a usable TE. Not only to catch passes but to block. SJ is going to miss the first 2 games. And he wasn't the greatest anyway. Just have to watch the drafting and see if they pick anyone up,
Don't forget that Enunwa played a lot of H-back. Those snaps likely didn't account in this metric. Regardless, the eye test tells you that there was not one worthy TE on the roster and that the OC was too stubborn to try to incorporate the position into the offense.
I disagree. Bowles inability put even a marginally competitive Defense on the field, with the talent available, is why Bowles should have been fired. The stubborn refusal to move on from Fitzpatrick. Whatever the hell that offensive game plan was vs. the Rams. Not knowing that TEs exist. Playing 4- and 5-wide all the time despite having decent run-blockers on the line, and Powell and Forte in the backfield. These are all pathetic, but none are quite as offensive as the Defenses' inability to generate a pass rush, defend a pass, cover a TE, or tackle after a catch.
Agreed. I meant more as "The straw that broke the camel's back". But yes, how he wasn't fired just reinforces my belief that Woody is an idiot.
How is it Bowles's fault? You want him to order the QBs to throw to Brandon Bostick? Austin Seferian-Jenkins was useless too.
The way I see it the Jets did not win and lost badly in many games In short It suxed up down and sideways That's on Management/CS, game preparation, and utilization of players You are foolish to think otherwise jmho
Yeah. Seriously! Even if your TE can't catch - in which case why the hell is he even on the team? - at least keep the "D" a little honest. And why didn't Bowles plead with Macc to find him someone to use as a TE? Why not use one of the other receivers as a TE occasionally? Yeah, Bowles needs to own this.
You're blaming Bowles for not pleading with Mac to find a TE? Why not blame Mac for not finding a TE? Also Bowles/Gailey used Enunwa as a TE, but Gatta isn't counting Enunwa because he's designated as a WR on the roster.
Yes. Are you saying that Bowles didn't know that he didn't have a TE that could catch? That's a bit of an oversight, don't you think? For the record, I DO blame Macc also.
I'm saying he knew, but he couldn't do anything about it because he isn't in charge of personnel. There are a lot of good things to blame Bowles for, but I don't see the TE position as one of them.
