Georgetown hires Patrick Ewing as HC. Nice timing as well to announce it on national championship day. He's got the basketball knowledge, I have no doubt, but the challenge for him will be kissing the asses of entitled high school players around the country to get them to play at Georgetown.

If Karnowski could make a 2 foot jump shot, Gonzaga would be up by 9 points at half.
I'm rooting for the Zags, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think Carolina will take over in the last ten minutes of the second half.

I think they watched the replay, decided they should not have called a foul on Berry, and then said ok we'll give a bogus flagrant to even out the free throws

    seriously what the hell?

At least he didn't tell the caller that he was an idiot like he did when asked if Parcells might become the Jets coach.

The officiating was horrible but without all the fouls Gonzaga isn't in this game. Really as inept a performance as could have been imagined.

Karnowski somehow missed every close shot

    he's normally money

I don't know whether his eye is still an issue or he just choked but he couldn't hit anything

    but just a reminder:

the play where his eye got scratched, he got smacked in the face, no foul call

then in the title game he gets called for a flagrant on what?

Holy fuck, what a terribly officiated game. Also, just once I'd like to see a mid major, or a up-and-coming power conf team come through, instead of just losing to one of the usual suspects for the title. Having Oregon and Gonzaga and SC in the Final 4 is nice and all, just like it was nice when it was VCU and Butler, but as usual, the big dog wins the hardware.

Meeks played great defense on Karnowski. I also think Karnowski is extremely overrated. Congrats to UNC.

    COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Georgetown Hires Patrick Ewing as Men’s Basketball Coach

By MARC TRACY APRIL 3, 2017
    • Parting ways with Coach John Thompson III, the son of its legendary coach John Thompson, Georgetown kept one of college basketball’s most prestigious jobs in the family by hiring the elder Thompson’s greatest star, Patrick Ewing, as the Hoyas’ new head coach, the university announced Monday.

Ewing, a three-time all-American at center, led the Hoyas to three Final Fours and their only national title (1984) before being drafted first over all in 1985 by the Knicks. He played 15 of his 17 N.B.A. seasons in New York, leading the Knicks to the 1994 and 1999 N.B.A. finals, and also won two Olympic gold medals, including one as a member of the 1992 Dream Team.

A college national player of the year and 11-time N.B.A. All-Star, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Georgetown did not immediately reply to a request for comment on Monday afternoon, but a post on the Hoyas’ official Twitter feed confirmed the hiring.

      Welcome home @GeorgetownHoops Coach 4:31 PM - 3 Apr 2017
Aficionados of 1980s college basketball might already be salivating for Georgetown’s semiannual matchups versus St. John’s: Ewing and Chris Mullin, the Red Storm’s coach, were known for a fierce rivalry when they played for the teams that they now lead from the sideline.

Ewing is an experienced coach, albeit at the professional level and not in running a team as a head coach. Since retiring in 2002, he has been an assistant for four N.B.A. teams, including the last four seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, most recently as associate head coach.

John Thompson III had been seen to falter after reaching the Final Four in 2007, in his third year as Georgetown’s head coach. This season, the Hoyas finished 14-18.

With ample tradition, membership in the Big East and central location on a recruiting motherlode — the so-called D.M.V., or the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia region, which produces numerous top-tier recruits — many believe Georgetown has the structure to be nationally competitive consistently.

with all due respect Hack, no you didn't

Yes.... I did....If the man who played a major role in my team winning the title says so, then it is so.
