I really thought we found a gem in the draft, kid had so much potential. Like they say in NE, next man up... has such a different meaning here.
Hopefully they bring him back after the current brain-dead moron gets fired..best coach the Jets had since Ewbank. Two straight title games with fuckin Sanchez as the QB...lol.
All I know is that I'm going to chuckle at my Giants fan friends when the oline collapses and Eli goes down and they are stuck with Geno, while their top notch defense and WR core gets wasted. Who would have thought Geno and BMarsh back together again. Sky's the limit.
Haha when snacks went to the giants last year everyone said "ah no big deal".. Never liked Geno but good for him. Wouldn't be shocked to see him succeed with a stable environment
Eli's backups have never seen the field, so unless something changes, Geno isn't going to play much. But who knows, this could be the year.
Yesterday, FWIW, heard Willie Colon on ESPN radio talking about Geno. He said he was surprised Geno signed in NY. Thought he needed a fresh start somewhere away from NY media. Also said Geno was no way prepared to be a starter in 2014. Said Rex, being Rex, wanted to win Snoopy bowl, so when QB (forgot who it was, maybe Geno) was injured in the 4Q he called on Sanchez to go in. Colon said Sanchez did not expect to play in that game so did nothing to warm up and get his shoulder loose. Normally he said Sanchez had an elaborate warm up routine. But Sanchez went in cold because pros are taught that when the coach points to you, you go in, no questions. The rest is history. Correction edit: should be 2013 not 2014.
Not sure how you pass a physical that close after a torn ACL, but good for him. I guess the Giants felt everything else checked out for him and that he can rehab while learning from Eli. Interesting signing though, since he likely will never be quite healthy during that 1 year deal.
I never wanted to see him play in Giants Stadium as a home player again. But I guess I can live with it this way. As long as his uniform is not green... Of course with our luck, he'll turn into a serviceable NFL player and I will be wrong - and sad - again....
We've been saying that about every QB for the past 15 years. At some point its not the QBs fault, but someone higher up ...
The worst Jets nightmare would be Eli getting a season ending injury and Geno leading the giants to a Superbowl and being mvp.... Ohhh how that would hurt.
The only thing that could be worse would be for a former Jets coach to win 5 SBs with a division rival. Fortunately that's too far-fetched to ever happen.
Actually, the Giants signed Geno for much less. Only $325k in guaranteed money. Geno needs to be healthy in training camp to make the team and earn more. A tough ask... And the Jets payed $6 million for McCown. http://nypost.com/2017/03/22/giants-chance-on-geno-smith-could-cost-as-little-as-325k/
