Won't pay Mangold $9.5 Million but will play Ijalana $5.5 million? Odd. I thought he was pretty terrible. I guess they see potential.
It sounds like a lot but OLinemen are only second to QBs as far as ROI goes, Ijalana can be used in a couple of spots on the oline, that type of versatility is what gets those guys paid.
While I believe it was proven to be just Mehta BS, 2 of the 3 "Pro-Fitz protesters" have been cut so far. The lone remaining being an injured Decker. If it was truly more than Mehta fabrication, it could be a contributing factor in deciding to release Mangold & Marshall.
Don't care that he's versatile. He's terrible. Shows no power in the run game and slow feet in pass-pro. This should've been a 2yr 6.5mil contract at best for him to be our depth swing tackle. Not a good showing for Macc thus far in FA. Don't mind that he didnt get a CB as their contracts are ridiculous but this puts more of a sour taste in my mouth
He's a pretty decent RT. Gives us a little more solidarity if Shell drops the ball in year 2. He can also play LT, albeit pretty poorly.
I would have liked to pick up D.J. Fluker instead. Bigger, younger, better run blocker, equally bad pass blocker. If we end up drafting Fournette or Cooks, we'll regret not making that upgrade. Considering what we paid, Fluker might not have cost any more.
I was hoping he handed in his resignation letter. Then I see that he re-signed, ugh. He's got a long way to go to be a solid starter. Maybe @RT he'd be okay
Welp, the Pats resigned Branch, got Allen for TE and Gilmore for CB, so I was hoping we would make a splash to keep up, and we've done so. I'm so relieved. Ron
This is the kind of thing you do when your team is a dumpster fire. Ijalana is a backup on a good day, maybe.
