I actually AM a old poster under a different name, but I never heard that story. Wow. And I thought the "take a full power shot" thread was the weirdest ever thread on here.
First of all, brooding is not the same as publicly complaining. also nothing wrong with being mad about not starting, everybody wants to start. Second, you're right that there is no sure solution but allow me to counter your comments. I don't know why you think the draft stinks. Truth is we don't know how any of these guys will do, but I'm very OK with drafting Watson. I think he's gonna be a good QB in this league. He has the physical tools and you can't teach the intangibles. I don't want Garrapolo and Bellicheat won't send him to us anyway. The best option, other than drafting Watson, is to sign Geno and let him, Petty and Hack have a 3 way battle for the starting job. We have to find out what we in these guys once and for all, with no Fitz getting in the way. The team is going young and cutting older high priced vets. Bringing in a vet is like Hoyer or Cutler or McCown is a bad idea. Bashing Geno while giving IK a pass is something no Jet fan should ever do. Fuck IK and I hope his shredded knee never makes it back to the league.
I can't rightly argue with you. I would stay with what we have. It's quite possible Bowles and co are gone anyway. I've watched some clips on what's available through the draft and I'm not enamored in any way. Though what you're saying geno did, is in fact complaining. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Seriously anyone who has known me on this board knows how I feel about FA QBs, there is a reason teams let them go, if they were the answer to a teams QB situation they would not be let go. I'm of the opinion that the jets should let Geno Smith move on and draft another QB in the later rounds, allow Hack and Petty to battle it out for the starting job. They have to play in order to grow, there is no way around that. Bringing in a FA will do nothing for this team, it will give TB a lifeline as he will insert the veteran as the starter and the growth of any young QB the jets have will be delayed by another year or even longer than that, because they may fire him and it starts all over again with a different CS.
We can agree to disagree on Geno. I just feel we cannot waste draft picks. We have to know what we have. If Petty and/or Hack are not good, then we cut bait and move on, but it's the not knowing that's killing this franchise.
I agree 1000% with this part. Whether Geno comes back or not, this team HAS to let Petty and Hack compete for the job. One reason I would Geno back is if you bring in another vet QB, there will be pressure to start him. With Geno, there is no pressure or expectation, all three will fight for it and may the best man win.
This. Geno is not the answer. Romo, Cutler, Hoyer, Glennon. None of them are really the answer. I doubt petty or hack are the answer, but we already have suck. There's no point in getting some other suck that will gain some courtesy flush wins and lead to more of the same suck for a couple more years. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
+ 1000 In a Nutshell so correct..courtesy trash wins to pad some guys resume? ..No thanks We have no power tho and some Vet will be here next ...I suspect.. so hopefully he will be as bad as Geno and we nose dive in 2017
I'm starting to think he's going to be our starter going into week one. I can't imagine we go with the pups without a veteran on the roster and I really don't think Petty is the answer or Hackenberg will be ready. Geno could still have upside, despite how critical I am of him. Maybe two years of abysmal play was what he needed to right himself. Maybe not.
I mostly agree, but I think he has above average physical ability. He has a big arm and doesn't struggle making any of the throws. Accuracy on deep balls are a bit of an issue but he can spin the ball pretty well in the middle of the field. The issue is obviously the predetermined reads and the pocket awareness. But overall he has shown that he can pickup chunk plays decently enough.
He's been really spotty in the limited play he has had since 2014. His field awareness is not very good. I think he has a chance to be a good QB I just don't know if that's in the CFL or Arena Football League or what. He has a lot of work to do to make it in the NFL at this point. It's not an impossible task but it's a long road from where he is to where that would be.
No doubt. It's gonna be interesting to see what they think this team should be. Again. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
This a little off topic but there was a NYDNews online article bout how Mike Holmgren almost made here after Woody offered a job in 2014...too bad he turned it down but says wife said no what a diff he would have made for this rambling reck
