As I have said I have posted repeatedly you need good, smart Management

Idzik could of had his pick of J Garrapolo Carr Metenburger T Bridgewater and...........we draft PRYOR!!!!!

    Dumb and Dumber imo

This is why love for Defense has to end now

Make the Offense a priority going forward and D second ......you wont be sorry

That doesn't answer my question it just gives your definition of a "stop gap"
how does signing some scrub move this team forward?

Forward is not a far destination for this team.

Our choices are... one guy who has never seen an NFL field, one guy who has seen it once, a draftee, or bringing in someone else.

I guess Geno could come back, who else?

It gives you insurance. If Hack really can't hit an ocean and Petty is injured or shows no improvement he at least gives you semi-competent play to help evaluate some of your other young players when your draftees fail. Not that I'd recommend it, but it's a valid fall back option only.

I would define "stop gap" as a QB who can come in and give the Jet offense some legitimacy. When treating a wound, the first thing you have to do is stop the bleeding. In the Jets case, "bleeding" can be defined as a franchise that accepts losing. I can get on board with this strategy if the current FO can't see a true FQB in this draft, but is committed to finding one while remaining competitive on the field. However, if the Jets are going to employ a stop gap, it should be someone like Romo or even Cutler, but not McCown who really hasn't shown he can win consistently. In my opinion, going with either Petty or Hackenberg, is giving the blessing to another losing season. I find that unacceptable no matter what reward can supposedly be reaped in the draft next year.

This team is not in position for a stop gap QB now, it only sets this team back. Only a great QB can rescue this roster and they obviously don't become available. Next best option is a young QB with potential to be great, finding that kind of guy should be the priority.

SNY and Pro Football Rumors had stories on Glennon today. Depending on price I'm not opposed. I think he has potential and could be a top 15 qb in the league. The ther rumor I heard was that the Jets are scouting Watson as much as someone could. Watson is a question mark. To me he could be like McNair or McNabb or be like every other qb the Jets have had since Namath. Awful.

There's going to be many more rumors between now and the start of free agency. It'll be fun to follow them and see what they do. If they sign Glennon then I think they will take a CB, Safety, or rush end at 6. Maybe they get lucky and a qb people wants falls and they can trade back for more picks. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing how this team changes and if we finally get the 48 year rebuild right.

I was thinking Watson is more like Cam Newton or Dak Prescott. But he could also be a bust like Jamarcus Russell or Geno Smith. :D

I think we have to keep reaching. Nothing would stop us from drafting another qb the following year.

Now that the SB is over, and we were painfully reminded for the 50th time as to what it takes to be a real contender, is very appropriate, IMHO, to once and for all be focused on one thing and one thing only.
1- We must continue to find the QB of the future and play the youngsters to find out if they have it or not, period end of story. So fuck any talk about looking for a stop gap QB yet once again. That is a massive waste of time. We have basically spent the last 15 years fucking around behind a stop gap QB. It has given us diddly shit
2- Given the above, this coaching staff better show us that they have the vision, the brain and the knowledge to coach a young team properly. Put them in the best position to win and stop making horrific game time calls or no adjustments at all
3- And our owner, whoever it is nowadays, better figure out quickly that 1 & 2 are the only ways to become a dynasty. So either demand it, or find new leadership, or fire the whole lot till we find the talent wee need. Stop gap football is bullshit, and leadership with a stop gap mentality is what shitty organizations are made off.

I've seen it mentioned he reminds people a little of Vince Young because of his mobility and success he had at the college levels.
