im not saying our #6 but , our 2nd round pick wouldn't be enough so therefor his value is a first round pick .
McCarron is still early in his career but nothing that he's shown so far suggests he'll be an exceptional QB at the NFL level. He doesn't have a particularly good arm, he's not particularly mobile, he's not all that accurate. These were the consensus opinions in 2014 when he was being scouted for the draft. Everybody thought he was going to be a 4th round pick or so and he slipped to the 5th round. The one really interesting factor with him was his ability to hit a deep pass over the middle when the defense had been drawn up to stop Alabama's run game. This was basically a one-trick pony deal in terms of deep passing and it's something you often see with a QB with limited tools because the defense just doesn't respect his arm until he's proven he can beat them deep. Chad Pennington used to get in one or two deep throws a game with surprisingly successful results because the defense would put 8 men in the box to stop the run game and then Chad would take a shot with one of his receivers against a lone safety deep or a back being covered by a LB. I guess if the Jets were going to spend a 4th round pick on a QB again to build the stable they could do worse than trade the pick for McCarron.
I don't understand the eagerness to pick him up. What have you seen from him that suggests he is ready to be the starter for this team? Side note for the other posters in this thread: Why in the hell would we give up a high 2nd round pick for McCarron??? We wasted a 2nd round pick on a developmental QB last Spring, why do it again? AJ McCarron is not going to take this team anywhere. Jets need to build up there Offensive Line through the draft, add more youth and speed to the defense through the draft, and give Hack a full season to play. They need to figure out if this guy has anything in him. Not throw away more picks.
Trading for a QB would cause a widespread release of dopamine, calming the fan base for approximately 13 minutes before they begin chasing their next release. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Do I get his girlfriend as part of the trade package....... otherwise I really don't see a player worth much in trade compensation.
No they don't. He isn't the answer at QB, and the LAST thing they should do is give up a high draft pick for a QB that isn't the answer. The only thing the Jets need to forget is the OP's idea.
I'm starting to think the Jets should just put out any sacrificial lamb out there. I'm expecting Bowles to be gone after next season, and that likely means his coaching staff goes as well. Any QB under center is looking at 3 different OC systems in 3 years if you count this past year. If you extend back to his last year in college, Hack will end up enduring 4 OCs/offenses in 4 years.
I don't think McCarron is any good. If he was Cincy wouldn't trade him because Andy Dalton isn't good.
I was beating the drum for McCarron in another thread but no way would i give up a 1st rounder for him. I like the idea of Glennon McCarron or Tyrod Taylor...I don't want some old has never been taking up cap space. It's time for this team to get younger and build for the future.
