If he's not too expensive, I say sign him. As much as I believe in developing Petty and Hack, Tyrod is good and he's young. The whole point of developing Petty and Hack is so that the Jets could have a good young QB. With Taylor, they'd have it already. Petty and Hack could still be developed and possibly one be traded to another team in a year or two.
We'd have to sign him for more than Mr. INT got..... and probably a longer contract as well. I'm for signing a cheaper FA then laying the dynamite for full demolition while we see if Petty/Hack work out. That will set us up nicely for what seems like a better QB draft in 2018.
I usually agree with this but I really think Tyrod is good enough to win with. Buffalo is a screwed up organization and what they did here is moronic. Tyrod Taylor was actually Rex's guy
is this conversation actually happening? tyrod taylor does absolutely nothing for me as an nfl qb. nothing... at....all.
He's a solid middle of the road QB and went to the pro bowl last season which I know can be overrated but still it counts for something Great scrambler and playmaker down the field and a much much better QB than anything we've had for a while
I just don't want us to be locked up with a QB and then commit to trying to win with what we have. Because what we have now is CRAP.
Well if he absolutely breaks the bank then maybe you have a point but if he gets paid like a middle QB then I say go for it It's hard to pass on the solid B when we've been trying for the "A" QB forever and have been stuck with trash I think you add a franchise RB with Taylor and sure up a few other areas in the middle rounds and free agency we can be on the fast track to a solid team I don't think the roster is that bad overall we just need a good offseason, but with no QB it magnifies everything
Yeah. I got no problem signing him if Hack really is as bad as they say he is. Having a decent QB immediately allows us to focus on other things in the draft. A decent QB with a restocked OL is a different story.
The only thing similar about Tyrod and Geno is their skin color. They're actually pretty much polar opposites. One turns the ball over a ton and one doesn't. Signing him is an interesting proposition and I'd hope given the horrific state of our quarterback situation for the better part of the last 35 years we at least inquire. He's probably not the savior but he's a quality NFL quarterback whose strongest attribute is protecting the ball. That's pretty friggain important in today's NFL. He looks to be an upgraded version of Alex Smith and he can actually throw the ball deep. If we can get him for three years and around $14 million/year how can you not pull the trigger? I just foresee him getting closer to $20 million per and I don't think he's worth that. We don't want to lock ourselves in to potential mediocrity.
Tyrod won't be available. He is going in for surgery to fix a sports hernia. That will force the Bills to keep him. Which is OK with me as I don't think we should pick him up.
I don't know. I wouldn't mind his signing at a decent price, but they'd have to have a legit 1-2-3 and none of this if, maybe, but shit that went on in 2016.
He's thrown for 6,058 yards, 37 touchdowns to 12 interceptions and amazingly only fumbled 13 times while only losing 3 of them over the past two seasons. He also completed 62% of his passes and added 1,148 yards on the ground, with another 10 touchdowns. He's also completed 78 passes of 20+ yards over the past two seasons along with 18 of 40+. One knock is that he seems to be sacked an awful lot at 78 times in his two years of starting with the Bills but I haven't watched enough of the Bills to know if that's more a product of shotty protection or him holding on to the ball too long. He also averaged 7.4 yards/attempt in Buffalo, but 8.0 yards/attempt last year when Sammy Watkins was healthy all year. Putting it all in perspective we're looking at 240 total yards per game, 1.5 touchdowns per game, and 0.5 turnovers per game on 62.6% & 7.4 yards/attempt. In comparison Alex Smith with Kansas City has had 244 yards per game, 1.4 touchdowns per game, 0.6 turnovers per game on 64.5% & 7.0 yards/attempt. The X-factor of course is his downfield passing. Definitely a quality NFL quarterback. He's a version of Alex Smith that can throw the ball down the field. Not sure why the Bills would sign a player like that to a contract with a guaranteed injury incentive when he gets hit a ton and runs a pretty solid amount of the time. I'm also not sure why they'd let a player like that get away. They've had similar quarterback troubles to us since Jim Kelly retired. Seeing a franchise operate like the Bills makes me feel good about the Jets in that we're not the only dysfunctional organization.
It doesn't force the Bills to keep him. The contract is guaranteed for injury, not surgery. Seeing as he played through the season with the problem and surgery was optional, he'd have a hard time making a case for the injury guarantee. He'd also be better server by getting healthy and going to free agency. *IF* the Bills drop him at all. It's a rumor. This would be like Mehta saying the Jets are dropping Petty.
Absolutely in favor of bringing in TT. Has proven he can succeed at an NFL level and throws a great deep ball. Would love to see him and robbie Anderson connect. It would open up so much more underneath for Powell, decker and B marsh (if we decide to keep him)
Is a sports hernia serious ?? Listened to these arguments and he is a major upgrade from Shitz...interesting to grab another of Buffalos droppings but who cares if they are more dysfunctional/crazy then this org If he can make a full recovery gut says sign this beast
+1000 Now that I think of it, Mac needs to recover big time from the Hackenburg fiasco, which now everyone is seeing/hearing he MAY bust out. MM comes out smelling like a rose if he negotiates a decent deal for TT then uses Hack or Petty as part of some sucker trade with another team Toilet Bowles will also go for this as his job is on the line so there will be few "discussions with Todd"
