I've also seen Quincy Wilson go as low as the early third round in one mock. It shows how little clue anyone has at this juncture as to what these guys will turn into and where they'll be drafted.
CBS Sports' Dan Brugler and Rob Rang both have the Jets taking DeShaun Watson at #6. Obviously very intelligent mockers.
Yahoo Sports Derek Barnett Marshon Lattimore http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl-mo...s-land-in-two-round-projection-151720662.html
Only guys I want at 6: Hooker Lattimore Fournette In no particular order, depending on who's left on the board.
macc might be fired in the War Room if either of these are his comeback draft. The bottom one addresse more needs. Peppers is not a good fit for the Jets. If you want a CB draft one or sign one. If you want a safety draft one or sign one. Nobody does both great. Only Charles Woodson did it after he got older and slowed down. Even Al Davis made him only play one position when he won the Heisman. Wouldn't let him play WR.
This draft is deep with CB's. Depending on what the Jets do in free agency I think they can wait on CB. Fournette would be a waste behind the current offensive line.
Ramczyck is going in the first round, Jake Butt is dropping after his injury. Peppers is going in the second round. These mocks are getting a little too wild right now.
If the Jets draft either Peppers or Fournette in the first round, just clean house cause the Jets wasted a first round pick. Take Malik Hooker and move on with the draft.
The key to mocking the Jets draft is to figure out who is gone when pick 6 comes up. Looking at the better players available (and team needs) I think the following are almost certainly gone before our pick comes up: 1. Miles Garret (best player overall will be gone by the fourth pick if he does not go #1 overall) 2. #1 QB (Watson?) - Many teams are starved for help at QB. I would be amazed if the 49ers and Bears both passed up a QB and used their picks on other players (assuming the #1 pick is not used for a QB) 3. #1 WR (Williams?) - Mike Williams put on a show in the championship game. Williams or another WR will be taken by pick 5 4. Jonathan Allen may be the best overall player, maybe even better than Garret. I do not think he makes it out of the top four unless two QBS or two WRs go in the top 5 5. There are about eight other guys that could go in the top 5. Your guess is as good as mine.
First, a great player will make a difference regardless of their position. The key for the Jets is to take the player who will make the biggest difference overall. IMO, those positions for the Jets this year are: QB, RB - if they don't have a franchise QB, Edge Rusher, OL/LT, Secondary. While Hooker, Lattimore, Adams are all top rated, they won't make as big an impact to the Jets overall as would Watson or Fournette/Cook, Foster, or Ramczyk, again IMO.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...d-a-pass-rushing-freak-in-takkarist-mckinley/ Dane Brugler is nuts imo. He has the Niners taking Trubisky at #2, the Bears taking Deshone Kizer at #3, the Titans taking taking Jamal Adams at #5, and has the Jets taking Marshon Lattimore over Malik Hooker, Derek Barnett, Reuben Foster and Deshaun Watson. I stopped looking after that, and I would be very unhappy with that pick.
If the Jets took Lattimore!!!!!!????????? with the #6 pick I will no longer root for them until they get new ownership, or at least a FO that has a freaking clue!
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/02/nfl_mock_draft_2017_jets_will_take_this_inexperien.html In his latest mock draft, Todd McShay has the Jets taking Marshon Lattimore, a relatively inexperienced CB with injury issues. I think I'd have a conniption fit.
I do not think Fournette would be a wasted pick. I would lose my shit over Peppers though. He probably falls to the end of round 1.
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/02/nfl_mock_draft_2017_roundup_of_jets_projected_sele.html So far, the "experts have the Jets taking the following players in their mock drafts: * ESPN's Todd McShay (February): Ohio State CB Marshon Lattimore * CBSSports.com's Dane Brugler (February): Ohio State CB Marshon Lattimore * SB Nation's Dan Kadar (January): North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky * CBSSports.com's Rob Rang (January): Clemson QB Deshaun Watson * NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah (January): Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer * ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. (January): Ohio State CB Marshon Lattimore * Pro Football Focus (January): Florida CB Jalen Tabor * NJ Advance Media's Darryl Slater (January): Florida CB Jalen Tabor * SB Nation's Dan Kadar (January): Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer * NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes (January): Michigan DB/LB Jabrill Peppers * Bleacher Report's Matt Miller (January): Alabama OLB Tim Williams * WalterFootball.com (January): North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky * NJ Advance Media's Darryl Slater (December): Alabama OLB Tim Williams * ESPN's Todd McShay (December): Alabama OLB Tim Williams * Bleacher Report's Ryan McCrystal (December): LSU RB Leonard Fournette * NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes (December): LSU RB Leonard Fournette * WalterFootball.com (November): LSU RB Leonard Fournette * NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes (November): Michigan DB/LB Jabrill Peppers Damn, I hope all those guys are wrong. Fournette and maybe Watson are the only two I could live with out of that group.
I mean I like Fournette, just don't think he's the right guy at 6; I think about his ankles potentially posing a problem in the future and it doesn't seem to be worth the gamble. OK, I wouldn't get as mad as Peppers, Lattimore, or the shitty expert picks you are right in terms of that.
Trade down. Especially if Hooker is set to fall thanks to his injury. Would love to pick up an extra pick and get Hooker at value. Even if we can't get Hooker later, there will be very good players available in the mid teens. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
