Why are so many fans not high on Hackenberg? If he has the right coach and scheme he could be our starter of the future. Years ago it would take for a college QB at least a couple of years to get a chance at a starting QB job in the NFL. What happened with that thinking? Everything is now you have to succeed right away. Sick of it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
I hate to burst ur bubble but have u seen him throw a football? His accuracy is down right awful. I honestly was in shock when I heard his name... I thought when they said QB it was going to be Connor Cook but nope... I hope he can prove me wrong but from what I've seen his mechanics, instincts and ability to throw the football accurately is down right terrible.
Because if a player isn't perfection they are instantly run out of town by our fanbase. The guy hasn't even played a snap and everyone is writing him off. Typical Jets fans.
He has some question marks with his accuracy and mechanics and people did not like his past 2 collegiate seasons which he was pretty average. I personally feel as if he had a lot of factors working against him. From playing in a pro offense and having mechanics set in stone to Franklin making him change his mechanics, not taking snaps from under center as much which is what he is more comfortable doing, and playing behind one of the worst o-lines in college football. Regardless of all that, Hack needs to work his ass off in the offseason to make the Jets coaching staff and front office believe that he can win this team games as a starter. He answered a few questions today and he said that he will be working out with Caron Palmer's brother again (which he did before he was drafted) and he is currently organizing and setting up a schedule for practice with his representative. He was afforded a red shirt year, I hope he uses his knowledge of the playbook, and heavily works on his footwork, and his throwing release. Like Gailey said, changing mechanics takes thousands of reps, he needs to work on it all offseason and hope he arrives to spring training looking like a changed QB.
Regardless if he has played or not, I'd rather see him actually play then just write him off. You never know, maybe he can become our QBotF.
Behind a putrid offensive line and his coach for his sophomore and junior years changed his mechanics. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Being behind a bad OL is not an excuse for Hackenberg not even being able to complete 60% of his passes or being able to complete simple passes without airmailing them. There were a number of prospects over the years who played behind a bad OL, yet they were still able to play well behind that line. Also, most OL's in the NFL are bad... if you can't play under pressure, you won't be any good. So the OL excuse doesn't hold up, especially when he'll have to play against elite pass rushers on a weekly basis. Christian Hackenberg's last preseason game is what he was in college... that's exactly why Jets fans are low on him.
Wow what was MacCagnan thinking?? You have to wonder To be fair they say CH is quite intelligent So he will make it in life if hes out of football one day Of course coming under the influence of Shitz it will help him learn the skill of exaggeration of your abilities for more $
my buddies kid went to Penn state,,,they hated him then and they hate that the Jets took him,,,especially in the second round. I called them on draft day to ask what they thought ,,they said big kid strong arm but NOT ACCURATE and dumb as a stump makes real bad decisions,,seems he cant read a defense,,,,,,,I said well lets see how the year plays out and judging by how the Jets did not let him see the field I say my friends so far were right and Mikey Mac wasted a second round pick on this guy when he could have drafted him in the 4th or 5yh round and still used a second round pick on someone to impact the team immediately !
He will get an opportunity at some point before his rookie contract expires, that is nearly certain. It would be a bullet wound to Mac to spend a 2nd rd pick on a player who never even hits the field purely because they suck. Frankly, the Jets made their own bed with Hack and now they have to live with it. Try to make it work because if they can't, it sets the entire team back significantly. Some of this is false, big time arm talent, accuracy issues, but he's not dumb, he grasped BOB's playbook as a freshman and was making adjustments at the line like a seasoned QB. You gotta hope that someone can fix things like his tendency to throw off the mark too many times and his footwork.
Looks like Patullo is gone also the QB coach. Jets offense will need to learn a new scheme, 2nd OC in 2 years for Hack and Petty. Can't say that is good for their development.
No.. they'll succeed in killing him next chance they get. If at first you don't succeed....try try again!
