I forsee some new Bears fans members, and you need 50 posts to start a thread...So here is one you can use to discuss the upcoming game.

Just keep the smack talk in the TrashTalking forum, and things will be fine. :jets:

Hey thanks for posting this I like talking about football and dont need to trash talk about it. All teams can win on any given sunday and you guys proved that this past week. Congrats on the win over the pats. My roommate is a pats fan and I was loving the fact he was running around like wtf this is bull shit. Good stuff. But here is to a good game and no injuries.!!!!

haha I already showed him that. I also was so kind to download that game on my pc and made a cd for him. So he could watch them getting their asses handed to them OVER AND OVER again. lol he didnt like that to much but I got a kick out of it. and I do think i see a tear! :p umm I was reading your other post about the bears and saying you will have trouble with the short pass on the bears umm thats the one thing we are weak on. If you throw short 3 yard passes you can get us every time hell even throw one right after the snap for a 1 yard gain and you can get 5 to 8 out of it. If you have access to watch any of the bears games watch the vqueens, cards, and miami. Those short passes are what kill us. We are a cover d we watch areas not man to man. What do you think?

i always thought that Cover D stuff was meant to guard against the shorter stuff, while it was susceptible to the big passes over-the-top. but maybe it guards the more intermediate routes, like the 8 - 15 yard passes?

Pennington likes to check-down and dump off a lot, and he's not that great at consistently attacking over the top (though he completes them a couple times per game). if you take away his short range stuff, it handcuffs him.

    cheers

Yeah if he throws anything over the middle most likely he will get picked or his wr are going to get laid out. anything that are dump passes you will do very well on. thats how matt linart got all his yards he didnt go deep very much because he knew if he did he was going to get picked. Aka the giants game stupid eli..... lol

This will be a tough uphill battle for the Jets. I'm hoping for the best, and am looking to see that we make progress even if it's a loss.

My biggest concern (outside of injury) in this game is the Bears CB's sitting on Penny's out routes and jumping them for the INT. There's a lot of speed on the Bears, and I think they'll bet they can gamble and not suffer the consequences too much.

Looks like the success in beating the Bears is to rattle Grossman and keep him off rhythm. The Bears D is too good to expect a scoring fest.

I live here in Chicago and the talk radio guys are still not talking about the Jets, still glowing in the Giants victory. But, the biggest radio afternoon drive show: Mac, Jurko (John Jurkovic, former D-lineman for Jaguars/Dolphins) and Harry are in New York this whole week at the ESPN Zone in NYC, from like 2 to 8PM New York time. So, we need some Jets fans to go over there and give them some hell. They also have said they may get a Jet or two to stop by the show, so who knows, you may see some Jets.

I am very confident that our D will be able to confuse grossman and force picks and sacks like they did with brady. But I am also confident that our O will be stuffed as well by that great bears D. This one is going to be low-scoring, and could come down to special teams. And looking the the Bears special teams, they have a very good kicker (our's not so much) and very dangerous return man, like us with justin miller.

I see this being a 10-6, or 9-7 type game, and it could go either way as far as who wins. I think the jets can pull it out, but the D will have to play just as great as last week, and our offense has to try to make some plays.

Congrats on the win against the Pats on Sunday. It was enjoyable to see Brady in trouble throughout the game. I was wondering how the Jets do against the run? I see their ranked 31 on Defense but that stat can be very misleading.

We have been very bad against the run this year. However, maybe our new blitzes will help.

Well, if short passes kill you guys, you'll have trouble with Pennington. He is a Master of the short controlled passing game.

Short passes have eaten up the yards against the Bears. They tend to want to stop the big play (I asssume because of what Steve Smith did to them last year). The defensive front four is one of our biggest strengths and if they can keep pressure on Chad he may have a Long day.
How good the O-line is for the Jets?

Our Oline is good at pass blocking. Our run blocking is a work in progress, but we did some nice things against the Pats. We'll see if it carrys over to this Sunday. It Barlow can have a game like he did against the Pats, we'll be able to hang with da Bears.

I think we are getting the Bears at the right time. That is probably the only thing we have going for us this week but it can't be understated. They are coming off a Sunday night game in our home against a team that I'm sure every Bears player believes was the better team that plays in that stadium. With the Pats up next this is the classic situation for a letdown game. We could only hope that is the case..

I agree this could have been considered a trap game if the Jets had lost to the Pats, but with that very convinced win I hope the Bears don't take this too lightly. Another reason they won't is the Miami game. I think it refocused the team. My biggest concern with the Bears is their O-line. When they want to play they can be one of the best in the league. But, they seem to only give half the effort sometimes and it pisses me off. The Jets look like their Defense caught fire last week and the line could be in trouble.
