Frankly I think it would be a terrible move by HOU to let him walk, so I'm also taking it with a grain of salt. Still, it isn't exactly Manish reporting this. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Don't hire an OC based on one player, especially a project scrub like Hackenberg. That is the definition of retarded and short sighted. I don't think O'Brien is getting canned so most likely a moot point.
O' Brien will be hired as a HC immediately if Houston cans him. If not, it will be because he is shopping the various HC openings and choosing the one he wants. There is no way in the world O'Brien is not a HC in the NFL next season.
No. Hire O'Brien because he has won at every level as a HC under less than ideal circumstances - Penn St post Paterno/Sandusky scandal and in Houston with no QB.
Sure. If O'Brien is available then I'd be all for bringing him in based on his track record of winning under those conditions, but not because of any previous relationship he has with a fringe NFL prospect.
I'm all in for OBrien But of course Woody and Waldo want to see Bowles get his TRaining Certificate at our expense What else is new...oh well ...watch this one play out
What really pisses me off is that there is no mention of K Rogers... he is worthless as a DC. He should be fired today but probably will not since TB is his buddy....
What are you talking about? His defense stymied the super high powered Bills offense led by EJ Manuel/Cardale Jones and without Shady. Surely that is grounds for a 3 year extension.
Unfortunately, there are two legitimate head coaches available (one with a Super Bowl victory) and we're going to stick with our one year coordinator head coach rather than even try to go after O'Brien and Payton.
Payton goes home to LA with Goff, O'Brien to Jax with Bortles. Not sure why people think OB would take an OC job with so many HC vacancies. McCoy would be my choice for OC, maybe with the lessons learned in SD could be a good HC in waiting....
Stop falling in love with other team's coaches. Find someone to work with Petty and build an offensive line around him. Coach him up in the off season. Any good football man can call plays but a Quarterback teacher is needed in this situation. Maybe he is on staff already if not find one and let him get to work.
No way BB isn't the Texans coach next year. He's gone 9-7 every year and has made the playoffs for a 2nd straight year, all with below average quarterback play.
McCoy has a good history of working with quarterbacks as well. He was the QB coach that pulled the most he could've out of Jake Delhomme when they went to the Super Bowl and worked with Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers thereafter. 8 years as a primary QB coach, 4 years as a coordinator and he's young enough to not be completely stuck in his ways like Gailey obviously is. I hope ownership and the front office are forward thinking enough to realize there needs to be some changes on the coaching staff even if you're keeping Bowles. Something tells me the staff stays intact though.
Really..there is no waay O'Brien is not an NFL HC next year That being said, if he were available, the Jets should do everything in their power to haul him in
But O'Brien, if he gets fired, is not going out as a failure to the point that he needs rehabilitation. He won't need an OC position.
