Worst part of this is it'll just be another setback for our young QB's having to learn a whole new system.
Even worse then that is Bowles will be gone after next year and it will be3 in 3 years Getting rid of Chan and mot Bowles will be a worse setback Bowles needs to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the Jets are keeping Bowles, I would give the job to Patullo. The Jets only glimmer of hope right now is Hackenberg. He can turn the entire franchise around. He needs to be put in the absolute best position to succeed. Keep the continuity. While I don't think very highly of him, clearly the FO does.
I am a big proponent of keeping Gailey. Let's remember just last year he had this Ryan Fitzpatrick led offense top 10 in the league and if I remember correctly tops in the red zone. I think it was our best passing offense since the Parcells years and it was one of the rare seasons since Bill left where it was fun to watch the offense. For once in a league where passing is king we fit in. This year was tough but I think Fitz lost his security blanket in Decker and after that things snowballed. Chan has proven the system works and if ever given a good quarterback sky is the limit. Spacing is key in the NFL and he gets you need to spread these defenses out. I read two articles today. One said the jets were going to look for an offensive coordinator who would focus on the run game and tight ends. Do we really want to go back to that? Our offensive line personnel is not the Dallas Cowboys so if we are Mac better be drafting some offensive lineman (he better do that anyway). Also it may help to have a decent tight end on the roster if we wanted Gailey to get them involved. The other mentioned the lack of "trick" plays. To that I say the misdirections, the trick plays, they only work if people are worried about you executing your regular offense. People will complain about the runs right up the middle today on the 4th and short but if they ran outside, threw it, or ran some trick play everyone would be complaining that he didn't run it up the middle. Was it too much to ask for a yard up the middle? I understand there was definitely some questionable play calling this year but let's remember the limitations this team had. The line was not strong to begin with and became ravaged by injuries throughout the year. Most importantly though. I look at Decker going down similar to us choosing to keep Holmes over Braylon in 2011. Braylon was Sanchez's security blanket. Once he was gone we all saw the regression and before you knew it he's damaged goods. You can't take that away from a mediocre QB. Decker was the third down guy for Fitz. They had the timing down to a science on that slant end zone route. Add that and the tougher defenses the jets faced early in the year and it's no surprise Fitz struggled. I hope the jets see this and keep Gailey around. I think they learned how to involve Powell in the offense more these last few games and that could be a key carry over to next season. Of course this is all a moot point if they can't find the right QB but let's not make Gailey the scapegoat.
Yes, Gailey is the Scapegoat but not the answer at OC either Was on board with him when he got hired as I was with Mac but now that "we lived together " for 2 Seasons both have serious limitations That lame ass HC should have left for sure..a FRAUD Anxiously await Bowles redo of CS #2 I am sure he finds us some terrific talent LMAO
Mike McCoy fired in San Diego..certainly an attractive candidate to replace Gailey it would be nice to use TEs again.
With Decker, the Jets will have 6 decent targets for the QB. Enunwa, Anderson, Peake, ASJ and J Marshall. Not to mention Powell or Forte in motion. Not sure why the Jets wouldn't look to take advantage of this through 4-5 wide sets. But of course, let's look to bring in additional TE's and ground and pound. Typical Jets.
Not sure if he has a connection to Bowles but he would be a great addition. Would really help the offense. Not sure he'll take the job. He was the oc for fox in Denver. Wonder if he'd go to Chicago and he did work in Denver. With kubiak retiring I wonder if Denver would hire him as oc. I'd rather go to Denver. Better team than the jets. As jet fans we can only hope Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think that Gailey also made vague remarks like this after the season last year. I think the guy is just experienced enough and has made enough stops in his career to realize that nothing is promised year to year. I would love to have him back next season.
There is literally one person in this coaching staff that has had experience developing QB's and that is Gailey. Firing him would be a big mistake iMO and would probably set both Petty and Hack back. The only way this would make any sense is if Bill O'Brien was fired by the Texans and was then hired to be OC to mentor Hack.
I'm not a Gailey fan but firing him and keeping Bowles is nonsensical. Is Bowles really less to blame for the team's failure than Gailey? But if he wanted Fitz back that alone warrants firing.
I am sure Master Bowles will pick up where Master Chan left off Nincompoop Coach hires more Nincompoops Woody enjoying some tea and crumpets in his Palace GTFO
Hell yeah I think the move is to hire a top available OC candidate, might take an assistant HC title to get our guy. If things go south Bowles gets fired and that coach gets to become the interim and audition for our job or others for the season after. Easier said than done tho our offensive skill players aren't a group I'd sign up to coach for except Powell and a hopefully healthy Decker.
Most likely it will be someone on the current staff, no legitimate OC is coming here, for 1 year lease, with no QB, Bowles will be canned next season , already looking forward to January 2018.
