First off I am opposed to hiring a Defensive coach. We have had too many straight defensive guys who knew nothing of the offense and they have spent 9 straight 1st round picks on the defense which looks like shit. Last time the Jets had an offensive HC was Rich Kotite. No other team in the NFL have spent that many picks on the defense, and it has gotten us nothing in return. Our Gm has spent all our cap money to acquire prayers who are past their prime and paid top price for them. I think the Jets should fire the GM and HC and scrap the whole scouting department, because they seem to be a bunch of dumb shits. Here is my list of the only avaiable HC candidates. Five College Coaches: Urban Meyer, Ohio State (Won't leave without a ton of money and total control) Jim Harbaugh, Michigan (Won't leave, but if he did see above.) Mark Dantonio, Michigan State (I like him and he has accomplished a lot with little.) Jim Mora, UCLA (Wants to come back and after time away from the NFL he may be ready.) David Shaw, Stanford (If you want a guy in the Harbaugh image, he is your guy.) Five NFL Assistant Coaches: Mike Shula, Panthers, Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich, Chargers Offensive Coordinator Scott Linehan, Cowboys Offensice Coordinator Darrell Bevell, Seattle Seahawks, Offensive Coordinator *Josh McDaniels, Patriots Offensive Coordinator (He is the guy to take the shot on. So he failed in Denver, remember when BB failed in Cleveland? Nobody does.) Available Successful HCs: They would want control and top dollar, but Woody won't do it. Tom Coughlin Jon Gruden Bill Cowher Best GM candidate and top on my list; hell only guy on my list. Nick Caserio, Patriots, Director of Player Personnel Bio: Caserio was named director of player personnel on Feb. 21, 2008, after serving in a number of roles for the Patriots' personnel department and coaching staff. He enters his 16th season with the Patriots in 2016 and his 14th season in player personnel. In 2007, Caserio served as the Patriots' wide receivers coach following a three-year stint as the team's director of pro personnel (2004-06). Caserio is also credited as one of the architects of the Super Bowl XLIX champion New England Patriots, the first Super Bowl win in his current position. In Caserio's 15 seasons with the club, the Patriots have qualified for the Super Bowl six times with four wins, captured 13 AFC East crowns and qualified for the playoffs in every year except in 2002 and 2008. Caserio has been instrumental in drafting, signing and developing players who have become cornerstones of one of the most successful NFL franchises of all time. In addition to his time in the player personnel department, Caserio returned to the field in 2007 to coach the wide receivers, a season in which the offense broke many NFL records en route to an undefeated regular season. DREAM SENARIO!!!!!!! Nick Caserio GM and Josh McDaniels HC. It would be a stab in the back to BB. * If you have a Head couch candidate better than this list, I would like to here it. Give some reasoning, don't just shout out names.
I like HC and GMs who were once actual football player and Caserio was a standout player at John Carroll University, starting at quarterback in each of his four seasons, as the team compiled a 33-7-2 record. He was a two-time captain and three-time All-Conference performer. In 1997, he helped to lead the Blue Streaks to a 10-2 record and the school's second appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, where it advanced to the national quarterfinals. He was college teammates with Patriots offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels, assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski and director of pro personnel Dave Ziegler while at John Carroll.
I think you missed the best and most realistic candidate Todd Haley - NFL Head Coaching experience. He has taken Pittsburgh's offense to consistently one of the best in the NFL. Everywhere he has been as WR coach the WRs and the offense have been good.
He has in the past and look what it has gotten us. He should listen to the fans not his consulting firm.
Yes Woody would like him and he has a history with the Jets; which is why Woody would hire him, but I would pass. Bio (Jets connection): Haley was hired by the New York Jets in 1995 and served as an assistant in the scouting department for two seasons. At the time, Haley's father Dick was working with the Jets as Director of Player Personnel. In 1997, he was promoted to offensive assistant/quality control coach and worked closely with then-offensive coordinator Charlie Weis. From 1999 to 2000 Haley was the Jets' wide receivers coach. He is a disciple of Bill Parcells, who Woody still has a woody for.
Mike Holmgren is past coaching and no way he would come out of retirement for anything less than total control, which he can't handle.
I don't see too many of these candidates being realistic for a variety of reasons. Jim Mora is probably the most appealing and realistic of the College coaches, IMO. The only NFL assistant that I could see is Todd Haley. I would not mind seeing McDaniels but I don't know how he would see a move to the NYJ's seeing as how his mentor is so poisoned to this franchise. I am an MSU fan and I love Dantonio and what he has done for the program but I would not see him doing well here. He is a very stoic, low emotion kind of guy in a similar vein as Bowles. He has also been heavily criticized this year as the Spartans are an even hotter mess than the Jets. Frank Reich is an interesting name. I just wonder if he has really done enough to be considered for a HC gig(??).
Ok with the Post and very timely Throw out all the rookies Heres the REAL list Tom Coughlin Jon Gruden Bill Cowher Mike Holmgren GM Wolfe or Casserly or somone with tons of experience please When they are on the job they have been great Sorry but I am done the Jets a school for new Coaches and New Coordinators...this is a recipe for disaster and do better than C Gailey (Bowles choice lol) And Yes we should get an Offensive for Gods sake
At this point I'm ready to say "Fuck it" and let Pepper Johnson coach the team. It can't get any worse and he's long overdue for a shot at head coaching.
If we're talking people who can fix Hackenberg, is there a better candidate on the face of the planet?
I could easily see Bill O'Brien being the next coach of our team. He'd need to leave and we'd have to fire Bowles but the Hackenberg connection could get him to choose us over other openings. He's not passing up on the chance to coach Andrew Luck tho,if he gets offered that job he takes it.
Fire Our Defensive Cordnator and give us Rex Ryan to coach the defense..... lol...... ok now for a serious wish..... mike McCarthy to be our new offensive coordinator
