I think Ryan was fired now so The Bills could get a look at Anthony Lynn as head coach. I think he is being strongly considered for the head coaching position .

I'm honestly surprised they fired him that fast from Buffalo. With a healthy Watkins they probably are still in the playoff hunt now. They will probably go 8-8 again when they beat us next week. It seems unusual to fire a coach after 2 8-8 seasons.

Oh well, guess it's time for the Jets to sign this beast as DC!!!!

So 8-8 two years in a row with a team with mediocre talent and no QB gets you fired. Thus Buffalo hasn't made playoffs for 17 straight years.

No coach will be consistently successful without a good QB.

I think that would be a decent move by the Bills.

Rex wanted to bench the QB, the owner found a way to change that.

Rex inherited a team as good, if not better than what he's leaving - at least record-wise. That didn't wash with the boasts and promises. Especially when his defensive stats declined. That said, it does seem surprising.

Now, will Buffalo hire Bowles if we fire him? ; )

Rex's downfall wasn't the sloppiness or game management, although that didn't help. He was supposed to keep the D as an attacking, aggressive unit and he failed. He failed because the Bills personnel's best players fit a 4-3 scheme and Rex tried to stick with his baby. Rex took the Bills best defensive player, 100 million dollar Dareus and played him as a 2-gap nose tackle. Dareus is best when he is allowed to collapse the pocket and create interior pass-rush.

Bills had 600 yards offense last week and still lost because Rex's defense was terrible.

This should frighten Bowles because every time I watch Buffalo they look so much better than the Jets. That team tries and seemingly is in every game. They are usually a play away from pulling off a victory. Our team looks way more like a team that needs a coaching reset than the Bills do. Don't get me wrong, the Bills still do all the bad things a Rex team does but at least they are fun to watch. The Jets are pathetic every week and at no point during a game do you think "these guys are trying" or "these guys are fun to watch".

Cant say he deserved to be fired after two 8-8 seasons. The Bills havent had back to back .500 seasons in 16 years. And yes he would have beaten us on sunday. Its starting to make sense why Maroone left the day after Pegula bought the team. What a discrace the Bills are 4 coaches in the last 6 years.
