This sounds good to me!!! 3. New York Jets Todd Bowles has been a strong defensive-minded coach, and in his first year as a head coach, got a team to ten wins. However, the 2016 season, his commitment to Ryan Fitzpatrick, and the way that his team has flat out given up at times this season can give a reason that it is time to move on from Bowles. Once you lose your players, there is no coming back. What Payton may see here is a team with a defense he has wanting, and an offense just a quarterback and scheme away. The Jets will be picking in the top five this year, but with the addition of Payton, and the talent on the defensive front, they may be players for a quarterback in a trade as well. Tony Romo, Carson Palmer, Jay Cutler and even Drew Brees become names that could be tossed around. The Jets could then use their draft to sure up the secondary, and come into the season with a true high powered and feared offense. At running back, Matt Forte and Bilal Powell should be a strong duo, and Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa now join Brandon Marshall and a hopefully healthy Eric Decker to form an offense just a quarterback away. Payton can attract that quarterback, and he can revitalize the Jets in one off-season.
why would payton come to the jets, after seeing what woody did to interfere with the team under mangini, when he brought favre in? unless he gets total personnel control, plus a huge contract ( in order to compensate him for having to deal with the new york press corps), he can go elsewhere for better terms, like with the rams or even the bills.
Another quick fix to a huge gaping wound. Sure go after Payton but only if Brees is coming with him. The other names are older, underachieving and inspire no confidence. Also I want Payton to be in it for the long haul after Brees hangs it up in a few years.
I'd take Payton with no Brees. That's the win now shit we keep dragging ourselves into. Payton would be great for the development of Petty or Hackenberg or whatever young QB he would draft. Great coach and QB combo can mask a lot of issues. Your worst seasons become 7-9 years simply because a good QB can keep you in games.
I'd LOVE to have Sean Payton, I just doubt that it would happen. Can teams even trade coaches in the NFL? I thought that was an NBA thing. Imagine Payton as head coach with Rex Ryan as DC? Rex's head coaching career might be over when the Bills fire him, he should come back to his native position of DC, where he has excelled. In all reality, though, I think Bowles gets one more year to right the ship.
You can trade head coaches in the NFL, but it doesn't happen often. Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Jon Gruden, and Herm Edwards were all traded.
Now I could def get behind this as long as he has a good DC that comes with him and HE works WELL with that coordinator. You look at the previous DCs Sean has worked with and it's been a shit relationship. He could certaintly develop his own QB, and I wouldn't take Brees anyway. Payton can be stubborn as shit. Now, in terms of compensation, you get nothing more then a 3rd rounder.
Isn't Forest Gump still in Louisiana? Bowles and him make a good partnership pair He has to tell Forrest 100 ways to prepare shrimp as a test heheh
I'd release Bowles for a franchise culture changing coach such as Sean Payton, Mike McCarthy, or Jim Harbaugh. If you're a franchise in need of a culture change like our Jets are, then whenever the right coach becomes available you must take advantage during that small window of opportunity.
