For all the unfair negative posts about this kid, here is a positive one. He's getting all the first team reps this week and Brandon Marshall said: Wednesday’s practice already revealed a difference. “He looked really good,” Marshall said. “Sometimes you don’t want to say too much because you want to keep expectations low, but I thought he looked really poised and comfortable, more so than Monday night. He threw the ball extremely well and he threw it where it was supposed to go.” What a difference when you can actually prepare well. Hopefully we'll see it in the games.
Nice review of Petty's throws in the wide view over at Jet Nation http://www.jetnation.com/2016/12/08...k-13-colts-petty-nation/#sthash.hbqigQNy.dpbs
If he does well this weekend it may not be that indicative. The real test is the 3 divisional games. That's make or break for Petty. Hopefully he shows up!
I'd rather end the season at 3-13 and have better draft position, but if Petty proves to be a very good QB and the Jets win any or all of their remaining games, I won't complain, even though it might result in Bowles coming back. If the Jets find their QB of the future in Petty, that will give us some hope.
OR Petty can look really good, but the defense shits the bed as has been so often the case and we lose a string of shootouts.
That would be the best of all possible worlds. We'd know we had our QB of the future. We'd be sure to lose both Rodgers and Bowles, and we'd still have our draft position!
It would be a very pleasant surprise if he looks good over these next 4 games. Ultimately, I think the staff wants to have Hack and Petty compete for the starting job next season.
Now THIS is a good post. You're giving your opinion, stating what you think, rather than stating things as if they're indisputable facts. That's been my only issue with you and your posts. I actually agree that the team probably wants Petty and Hack to compete for the starting job next season. It's fine if you don't think Petty will succeed, but to state it as if he's no good and has no chance of succeeding isn't. Above you seem to indicate that it is possible for him to succeed, and would even be happy if he did.
I don't mean for it to come off like that, I think it's implicit that any post on here is an opinion rather than a fact that other people just haven't seen the light on. It would just be redundant and show a lack of confidence to preface everything with "I think" or "in my opinion". At the end of the day none of us really know anything. Not for a lack of intelligence, but for a lack of inside information. It's just fun and therapeutic to debate it, which is why sites like these exist.
....and Geno was beating Fitz like a red headed step child. Marshall wasn't 'wrong', he just didn't see the 'bitch slap' coming.
brandon marshall is the very last player i would take a scouting report from. the dude has declared countless players as "his guy". he probably still talks about how great geno smith looked in practice which we all know to be complete b.s.
