Which is ridiculous. Means the only way we get a QB is getting lucky. Hell even if we had drafted Prescott or Wilson may have well ruined them also

Not the same thing.. There's no substitute for experience no matter what you're doing in life. If Petty sucks, then yeah start Hackenberg who is Macc's pet project anyway (and yours). How can any young Qb learn how to run an NFL offense by being inactive, not taking any 1st team reps, being on the PUP thanks to a scrub. What coaches do you think Petty was working with? Gailey? in his spare time between coming up with all his innovative gameplans? You're assuming this is a coaching staff that has a clue as to how to develop new talent. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The kid is human and yanno what? If the Owner of the team and the VPE of the US is in the house, you'd better believe everyone is aware of it as these guys do not live in a vacuum. We won't even mention this was Petty's first time on the national stage via MNF. The game was already over and the team had quit by the time Petty got in. Gailey did him no favors except perhaps getting him comfortable throwing the rock. Reading defenses? The Colts stayed in a zone since Gailey didn't want to run anymore and on top of that, once Petty started connecting on short passes, Gailey decides he wants to throw deep. That was yet another masterful gameplan by Popeye the OC. I still think Bowles' batphone rang and the voice on the other end said: Play Petty.

Now if you want to see Hack throw dirtballs, fine. Its not like we haven't seen dirtballs before considering we actually had Tebow. You want to hate on Petty? Be my guest.

I'm probably in the minority, but I saw some good things from Petty last night. He has a live arm and that is half the battle. He had some balls dropped which is to be expected from this miserable team. His first few series weren't good. Pocket awareness needs improvement. The interception was something that you have to accept as a risk when you're way behind and you have to throw with the opponent playing prevent. In his last few series he looked more comfortable operating from the spread and made some good throws. It can't be easy coming in a game in which your team has been thoroughly trashed and demoralized. Realizing he isn't the second coming of Favre, I'm not ready to throw him on the scrap heap just yet.

P.S. I don't think Robby Anderson is strong enough to play in the NFL.

I'm glad they're finally getting him some gametime. By the end of the season, I think we'll at least have a somewhat clear view of where Petty is.

Clearly has a lot of arm talent, but definitely struggled with seeing the defense. Both INT's were very bad throws.

The question is, does he recognize the mistakes he made, and can he correct him.

He's fast enough though. He should just learn to take what he can YAC-wise and then go down. These beasts are going to strip him let alone kick his ass (last night seeing him 'popping up mad' and going after LB Antonio Morrison was pretty funny...."hey Robbie: easy killer").

Now that we are going with the youth movement I would like to see Peake get some targets.

We had two different QBs play but only three WRs got any targets.

LOL. So is Usain Bolt, but you still have to catch (and hold on to) a football.

Speaking of Bolt, watching him in the Olympics, I liked to fantasize (Jet fans do that a lot) about what an unbelievable WR he would make if he could catch a football. Imagine a guy 6'5" and can run like that?

Aside from Petty being able to throw a deep ball, there wasn't really anything meaningful to extract from yesterday. Colts plaid prevent defense and Petty had some lack of touch on the deep ball, and also some drops from Anderson (which has been disappointing in two straight weeks with drops). These next 4 games we will get a better understanding. I don't even think they will have a conservative gameplan either because they know everything is done.

Petty was not good last night but he definitely did some good things. I loved how he was zipping the ball all over the field, it was a really nice change of pace from Fitz and his knuckleballs. He missed a couple of deep balls to Anderson by just a couple of steps and I think that just has to do with a lack of practice reps with the 1s. For the most part he locked onto Anderson, but I think that has a lot to do with a comfort level he's already achieved with him.

Anderson can bulk up, the NFL weight room will do him good. Strength can always be gained.

How can you judge anything about Petty at this point? Jeez, he gets thrown into a blowout and throws on every down, Rams game I don't believe he got starter reps all week. Let's give this kid some time with the starters and some games to work on things. I saw a strong arm last night and now have a reason to watch for the next 4 weeks.

Well i for one hopes petty pans out into something. He throws spirals, has a good arm, and looks pretty tough. Now he may be as dumb as a stump but so what.

Defenses have a finite number of looks and i expect petty to have at least memorized the common ones.

Of course belichek and ryan will have some goodies waiting for him but hey, baptism by fire.

It's petty's second year, he ran the offense and we put up 6 points against a tough rams defense and then when he came out in the second half we put up 7 on a bad colts defense playing prevent.

    We will be fine ...

There are things you see a qb do regardless of game situation that can give you an ides what he might be.
Going through progression, anticipating throws, touch on the ball.
We didn't see much of that from petty Monday night. both ints he was locked on from the snap. balls thrown too high because he is late getting the ball out. not closing the book on him yet but i don't see any reason to think he will be good.

The only requirement for greatness in our fan base's eyes is being the 3rd string QB and never seeing the field. If you hold that status, you have the illusion of being a star who just hasn't gotten his fair shake yet.

Petty would have to absolutely wow me in the final 4 games for me to feel comfortable going into 2017 with him as the starter at QB. Otherwise, with no "great" prospects in this draft, count me on the Romo train for 2017.
