Mac assembled this shit roster. He also drafted Devin Smith, Bryce Petty, Christian Hacenberg, and Brandon Shell. He also resigned Fitzpatrick and gave big money to Revis and Wilkerson. Personally I think both should return and be given one more year to show progress.
Fire both of these clowns, it may be only Year 2 of this regime, but they have not done anything to distinguish themselves or give any indication that this sh!t has promise...f'in embarrassing...
The players aren't half bad. They just don't care and that's on the head coach not the GM. Bowles doesn't inspire, motivate or hold players accountable.
Let Maccagnan pick his own HC who reports to him, not to Woody, and then we can more fairly judge him.
This is the same team that went 10-6 last year. Revis either isn't trying or is truly physically broken down. Wilkerson was a beast last year, and unless Mac secretly traded the real Mo and signed an exact replica with less talent, that's not on Mac either. The only questionable moves he's made so far are Devin Smith and Hackenberg. This season is squarely on Bowles and Gailey. They have the same problem with clock management and game preparedness as they did last year, and this year, Bowles has completely failed to motivate his players, and shows very little interest in the team's performance himself! Honestly, Mac has done a pretty good job overall in my opinion. Enough so that I say that Woody should let Bowles go this year and let Mac hire the next head coach.
I don't think anyone is blaming Maccagnan and rightfully so. He has done a solid job in his first 2 seasons. Bowles on the other hand, deserves the ridicule. You can easily fire Bowles and keep Mac.
For a guy who is in year #2 of his job, having never done that job before, Mac is doing OK. He's made some mistakes, but what GM - no matter who it is - hasn't? If there was someone available who was a slam-dunk to do better AND was willing to work for Woody, then replacing Maccagnan with this "genius" would make sense, but I don't see this happening. Which means Mac should stick around and hopefully will improve. Bowles on the hand needs to go, the sooner the better.
The bottom line is this team looks lost & unprepared on the field . Bowles has lost this team and it's time to look for a new coach. Sometimes it's not that you lose it's HOW you lose and the Jets are mailing it in with lack of effort and emotion and that's on the coach.
I think Casserly and Wolf did Woody a true disservice by not advising against this f'd up Org. Chart our Owner Savant put together. Hire Macc? Fine but let him have true GM powers. Instead of advising on just the GM and HC hires, Casserly/Wolf should have told Woody to hire a true Team President of Operations instead of the gate receipt counter he has in Neil Glat. This organization is truly snakebitten.
This whole thing went to shit when the power structure was dictated to have the HC and GM have equal footing within the organization. Macc should have had free range to hire his own candidate and I think that come season's end Woody will adjust the power structure to reflect a legitimate structure. Macc should have free range to hire someone, Bowles and his coaching staff have clearly regressed beyond all measure and I think last night showed that they have lost the team.
I hear ya on the roster, fellas. We often complain about the lack of culture and identity with this team and that comes from the constant coach and GM changes. One guy has his vision and starts building it then we stop, tear it down, and start over. Never getting anywhere. I haven't forgotten how excited we were to have mac reorganize the scouting department and front office. It's only been one draft with those changes and tearing it down is not the way to go right now. If you want to get rid of Bowles I can abide that but let mac (and the front office) keep building what they have in mind. Again it's only been 1 draft with the current scouting
As bad as all of these are, and they ARE bad, This team should have more than 3 wins right now. That's on Bowles, not MacCagnan.
Before yesterday, the jets lost the prior 3 games, by less than 7 points. We could have had more wins, but our coach and the rest of his staff are unqualified to coach a professional football team.
