Wow so sad a young life gone too soon. People (sorry savages) flip out over nothing and take away a valuable life. Now living down in FL from NJ, this is EXACTLY what I fear since it's scary driving down here with tons of people who don't know how and can very well be carrying a firearm. Every time I get cut off I bite my lip and look straight. Anyway, R.I.P. Joe
McKnight always had potential and showed glimpses at times. He was a helluva kick returner for us, the last good one we had and I think he was the last one to return one for a TD for us... RIP...
It would be nice to see the Jets in some way pay tribute to Joe McKnight on Monday Night. It's always extemelly tragic to see someone lose their life, and so young, over such a senseless act. RIP
Those southern RED states are scary. Open carry laws, if you can breath you get a permit, no regard for life, not held responsible for anything.
http://m.tmz.com/#article/2016/12/02/joe-mcknight-shooter-released-ronald-gasser/ How does this make any sense? He definitely shot him and he's released because they're unsure why he shot him...
True. Any 5'11" black man driving an Audi is enough to scare someone into drawing their firearm and killing him.
We will wait and see what happens I guess but it looks truly absurd that they have let him go. Especially since this just happened with Will Smith's death in the same city and they didn't let his shooter go. That one would've had a better chance of self defense claims as well since Will Smith had a gun, McKnight didnt.
Let's hear all the facts first before we make any assumptions. McKnight was indeed out of his car so it's hard to say what exactly transpired to lead to the shooting.
RIP Joe, seemed like a good guy. The accounts from NOLA paper not flattering for Joe though. Apparently there was a chase between the two. Joe got out of his car and reached into the other guy's car to drag him out. The guy shot Joe while he was still in his car (shells found inside car). Will be a stand your ground issue looks like.
Okay so I just listened to the sheriff's presser. I predict McKnight's shooter walks. When you start a press conference with "lets be understanding of Gasser's (the shooter) family" and asks people to please protest peacefully" sounds to me like a man who's about to make the decision people don't like. Also, later in the presser they asked him just to clarify why they wouldn't hold onto Gasser and he started rambling on about how they have laws that protect people in his state on things like this and rambled about how police officers have that right- well Gasser aint no officer so I don't see how that's relevant. They asked if he was talking about 'stand your ground' and he leaned that way but then pulled back and said he didn't want to comment on that. This investigation is getting off to a great start. The police dept released a statement saying Mcknight was only shot twice and then the Coroner himself when interviewed said Mcknight was shot 3 times
If this guy isn't charged, the national firestorm will be insane. At some point when you see enough of these incidents, it becomes impossible to deny race is a factor. In similar circumstances, Will Smith's black shooter was not released. This situation is far more egregious though because McKnight was unarmed. How can this not go before a jury? Society sickens me sometimes.
